Seeking guidance please.... DS's SATs scores came out today and we are preparing to send them to AROTC and NROTC. Besides the standard English (EVBRW Score) and Math Score, is an essay or subject test required? He took an earlier SAT with the essay but the overall score is lower so he would like to submit just his highest test (which is also higher than any superscoring).

Also, does he have to send all scores or can he just select his best one to send?

Some websites are confusing about this as it states "writing tests" are required but does that include the writing that is part of the English portion of the test or does that refer to the essay?

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

No essay or subject test is required for AROTC or NROTC. The United States Military Academy application requires the essay be done along with the standard ACT or SAT testing. I believe that all the scores are required to be listed regarding the ROTC applications. But I could be wrong. So you should check the individual applications.

The College Board no longer offers the Essay with the SAT or SAT Subject Tests after June of 2021.

Thank you - I thought I heard the same but wanted to double-check.

Also, do applicants need to submit all their SAT scores or just the ones they want to (highest obviously if no need to superscore)?

For AROTC, just need to submit the ones you want considered. I don't know about NROTC, but would assume it to be the same.

For NROTC our DS submitted the scores that were his highest. He didn't submit scores that he wasn't happy with. I don't know what specific policy is in place for this cycle.
