Sorry I've been away a while, been busy with school, applications, etc. Anyway, I just got my SATs back today and wanted to know if I'm competitive.
I'm slightly disappointed, but still happy that I broke 2000.
Math:670
CR:650
WR:750
for a total of 2070. Are these good scores for a possible LOA, or should I be looking to improve if I want a chance at that?

Even with perfect scores in Math & CR, you may not get a LOA. There are other things to factor in. You should always be looking to improve your scores, grades, athletics, overall application. If you are a junior (or younger), take the SAT (or ACT) as many times as you can. But yes, you look competitive -- however it also depends on how competitive others are in your district/state, taking into account the whole application, not just SAT/ACT scores.

It is impossible for anyone to determine if you are competitive with only SAT scores. Check out the Class of 2017 profile and you can answer your question. Plus unless you are a recruited athlete or previously appointed candidate that was medically DQ'd due to injury before reporting, it is highly unlikely that you would receive an LOA. LOEs (letters of encouragement) have replaced LOAs without obligation to offer an appointment. Best of luck to you during your application process. Go Army!

As the previous responder recommended. See the link. You are in the zone. Continue to take and retake. Take the ACT too. WP will take best scores from different SAT test and pair them up. Remember, the profile is for the entire nation. Your MOC areas may be tougher competition (or easier). Take nothing for granted.

Wow OK, that's actually pretty encouraging. I still want to improve my Math and CR, especially CR. In reference to other academic achievements, I take an all IB course load at my school, and I have an average GPA of 4.3, with all A's, and maybe a B+ or an A- at the end of this school year.

Scores are a funny thing

Scores are a funny thing. In some ways they are a prediction of your success. My DD got 690 on Math. Never could break 700. She made 5's on her AP AB/BC. She made A's in Calc 2&3 at GT as a HS student. She is now a Plebe at USNA and is done with Calculus. So much for a 700+. Keep pushing to get your scores higher. As I have already said, take nothing for granted. Don't worry what scores others are posting, focus on what you can control. Good luck.
