Say a prayer for my son.

Thank you so much for all your prayers. He was operated on Sunday night it went well. I am in his room typing this on my Blackberry. The doctor said he will be fine just can't PT for the next 4 to 6 weeks. He seems in good spirits and will be sent back to the Acadeny in the next couple of days. Once again thanks for the prayers they are vety powetful.

That sounds very much like an emergency appendectomy?

Regardless, EXCELLENT news!!!! :thumb:

Thanks for the update, so happy to hear he's recovering well, and I know he is very greatful you made it out there for him!

I am so happy to see a great ending. I am sure the best medicine besides the Jell-O they feed him is you being there with him.

Prayers continue here for your cadet for a speedy recovery.

Glad to hear the surgery was a success!

{{hugs}}

Devil Dog - It's terrific you were able to fly out to be with your son - it's very unnerving to be so far away when your child is ill (regardless of how old your 'child' is!).
Best wishes for a rapid and uneventful recovery.

Say a prayer for my son

Devildog,

I will definitely say a pray for your son. I can't begin to image what your going through. You need to pray, too. Your son is in the best of hands. Pray without ceasing, talk to our Lord and Savior, he will answer all prayers. Above all, have faith.

God Bless,

RGK

So good to hear. Make sure your son drinks a ton of portein shakes. I lost 30lbs. when I had my emergency appendectomy when I was 21--but mine had ruptured. It was not an easy recovery. I too was away at college and would have given anything for my mom to be with me. I'm so glad you are with your son.

Now Your Son should be come a Giants fan

Glad to hear all is well and also glad to see the outpouring of support through this site. It makes me realize that if I needed help fast, I'd could get it via this site in a matter of an hour or two. Anyway, Giants Andres Torres had an appendectomy in either late August or early Sept....and he's already back in the line up. Good luck with your recovery and remember, chicks dig appendectomy scars.

Thanks everyone it was very reassuring that so many people were keeping him in their prayers. Prayers work. It was a difficult time for me. I raised my children, their mother left when they were young. I spent most of my time with them. Him being in a hospital bed so far away was tough to handle. IT was an appendectomy, fortunately it did not rupture. He is back in school today, as far as I know .

Thank you again.

You are a great Dad! And I'm sure your children love and respect you. God Bless you.

Devil Dog - you ARE a loving and wonderful Dad. I think it's wonderful that you were able to go to your son. It's tough being a parent when our children are so far away - powerlessness is a common theme.
I am sure with the multitude of prayers and excellent medical care, your son will make a quick recovery. Cheers!!

Forget the Giants - become a Steelers fan!

Ben Roethlisberger (who's had some other issues, but that's not the topic!) had appendicitis August 31st and was back playing 2 weeks later! Not recommended but now you have one more reason to join the Steeler Nation!

Seriously, to a WONDERFUL DAD! - so glad to hear your s is on the mend and that you were able to spend some time with him while he was ill. They're so grown up, and yet, still need that steady hand sometimes.

I had a major surgery in my early 20s and I'll never forget waking up and seeing my dad's face right there, holding my hand, telling me some long lost tale. Even when we think our job is done, as parents - it ain't over till it's over.

Thank you again.

I was a Steelers fan growing up. I loved Franco Harris from the time he played at PSU. When the Steelers drafted him they became my team. Now I root for the Eagles, my home town team, but I also root for the Steelers and Broncos. I lived in Denver for a while and really enjoyed it.

Dog: I guess I can forgive your dalliance with the Broncos but really... THE EAGLES?

Now, I'll have to go light some candles in church that you repent and return to reality. :) :shake:

On a serious note: how's S doing now? All recovered?

I think he is doing well. I have not spoken to him in the past couple of days, but over the weekend, he said he was feeling good.

E-A-G-L-E-S...Iggles

Some bad habits are hard to break.

I'm sure there is a 12-step program for this problem. Dog, you can start the process by converting your entire wardrobe to ONLY black and gold, which you wear exclusively between July and, well, June. OK, year round black and gold.

Next, you'll have to start eating only Steeler Nation foods (pierogies, kolbasi, stuffed shells, chipped ham, Iron City Beer).

Geez, I could solve ALL the world's problems if given half a chance.

Glad to hear your S is back at 'em. You'll have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

Geez, I could solve ALL the world's problems if given half a chance.

You could start by teaching the Steelers QB to stop molesting women (2 offenses) and to start treating waitresses ("Don't you know who I am?") like human beings. (Read the SI piece from August 2010)

How can you cheer for such a moron? Even the bartenders and restaurant owners in Pittsburgh are refusing him service, and going as far as charging him a cover charge while letting all other players in free. He's not very well liked.

My uncles and male cousins (originally from South Hills and Beechview, btw) will not even consider cheering for him, and my aunts and female cousins want him tarred and feathered and sent back to Ohio where he's from.

Oh well, as long as he wears that awful pee-yellow color (note - it's not gold, look at New Orleans helmet if you want to see gold) Stiller Nation will cheer.

Mike Vick of the Eagles deserves to be cheered for much more than "Big" Ben.
