I heard that DoDMERB will email candidates about scheduling an examination when 50% of their application to a service academy is completed. Is this true or am I supposed to request an examination? If I am supposed to request one, to whom do I email?

Thank you.

I was confused too but then I completed more of my application and got an email the next day about DoDMERB

You can not start or request an examination. The program you are applying to has to request the exam. Service Academies typically don't request an exam until you have submitted the majority of your application, because they don't want to spend the money on exams for those who never finish an application. You will get an email from DoDMETS and Concorde letting you know you have been authorized to take the DODMERB exam. The emails will have very specific instructions on filling out your medical history and scheduling the exams.

I'm just wondering what the time frame on this might be? DS sent his application in June 1st and the application is almost fully complete except for the Grade 12 Courses in Progress and Semester 7 grades. I thought maybe he hasn't heard anything about scheduling yet because he sent in his application so early? Will anything show up on the Portal or will he just get the email?

Well never mind. This is so funny - he is on vacation at my parents' house and he just texted me to tell me the email just came through. LOL

My DS is a Candidate for USAFA and USNA. I read the packet instruction from USAFA that said he had to complete 3 out of 6 forms to start the ball rolling on his DODMERB, but USN didn't have any rules that I could tell. I was expecting a package in the mail from Concorde, but he got an email today with instructions. My questions are: go with the email? I assume it was sent because he's a USNA Candidate? Can anyone confirm that ONE DODMERB exam is good for both academies and ROTC scholarships? TIA!

SA will not waste $$ on an exam until you are deemed competitive at least. No telling exactly what application stagegate or timing that can be.
DS postponed his CFA until after football season; he did not get DoDMERB exam done until late Nov.

Getting exam done early is an advantage if remedials / waivers are required but all you can control is completing as much of your application as timely as possible.

My DS is a candidate for USAFA and USNA. He receiced an email from DoDMERB stating he was eligible for med exam and would receive an email from from Concorde in 2-3 business days. That was over a week sgo. He emailed his ALO and hasn't heard back. Has this happened to anyone??

Go to the DODMETS website and try to log in. If your DS has been loaded into the system, it will take you to the portal that tells you the assigned medical provider.
