Scholarship assigned! When's the school selected?

Hi everyone! Just got the amazing news in my portal and that I was a winner! I owe great thanks to everyone on this forum!!!! I do have a few questions. I'm pending for all three schools for 4 year scholarship. Does that mean I won a 4 year over 3 for sure? Also, when is my school selected (hoping for VMI)? Also, I'm assuming I can't accept until after DoDMERB? And lastly, when is the official letter sent in the mail? Thanks so much! Have a nice day!

You will get the letter in a few weeks. You can choose any of the three school's listed, as they are one's that you listed on your application. If it says four year, you won a four year. First round scholarships are always four year. You must accept by the date listed on your official letter, usually around 30 days to get it sent in. The Dodmerb process starts once you accept. Congratulations, you won a first round, four year scholarship!! This is a great achievement! Good luck with Dodmerb, come back here for help.

Thanks so much! So since the status is pending acceptance to all three schools, that means I actually won it and to any of those (so guaranteed VMI, assuming DoDMERB goes well)? Also, can I accept from my portal? Can't figure out how to if so.
 
Yes, if you have been accepted to all three schools, you can choose any of the three! You are definitely a winner! But, as my son was advised by the great Jcleppe and others, the DoDMERB process can be long and hard, fasten your seatbelt, there is still much to do! You cannot accept online, you have to wait for the letter.

Just to clarify, this is separate from school acceptance, you will still have to be admitted to the school, the pending acceptance is pending YOU accepting the scholarship and selecting the school the school you want to use it for. Congratulations!
 
The DoDMERB process will start after you accept the scholarship. Your acceptance does not bind you, so no reason not to accept. You may want to reach out to VMI ROTC. Let them know you have been awarded a scholarship, VMI is your first choice and ask a few questions. Just let them know that you are very interested in VMI. They may offer to help with admissions.
