Hello,

I got an AFROTC scholarship a few months ago, and I couldnt be happier. I was riding the Rapid Transport system in my city yesterday on the way back home from my University orientation. I dont ride the shuttle system often, so I was unaware of the ticket situation. I boarded without a ticket.

Everything was going well until a police officer got on board and started checking people for tickets, and then he checked me. He issued me a "fare evasion" citation and told me something about having to appear in court and paying 100$ fine but I couldnt pay attention because I was about to pass out...

Is this any means for the AF to take my scholarship away? I only rode a bus without a ticket on my way back from my university in another state...!!

I'm kinda curious - why it didn't occur to you that you might need to purchase a ticket to go to another state?

This will be a non issue. Take a deep breath and relax. Go to court and get it taken care of and advise your cadre. I cannot imagine you would lose your scholarship over this.

I agree you will not lose your scholarship, but as a cadet you should know that any ticket you get, including as trivial as a parking ticket must be reported to the cadre within 48 hrs.

I would say just make sure you prove yourself in a positive light from minute one. This means maxxing your PFA, They are already going to know your name due to this incident. You don't want to bust the PFA the 1st week because now you will really be on their radar.
~ Remember the scholarship is a 2+2 scholarship. If not selected for SFT the chances are very high they will disenroll you after your sophomore year.

Work out all summer in all types of weather, if it is raining than still run. If it hot....run. If you went to bed at 1, still run at 6. The reason why is that will happen when you get there. Make sure your form is proper and do it in the right procedure. If your form is wrong you will hurt your score. It is not uncommon for kids to fail because their form is wrong and now it doesn't count.

Good luck! You might be able to get the entire case dismissed.
