I realize this could be different from school to school but I'm an MS1 and I was awarded the 4 year scholarship last year while in high school. Does anyone know when I could expect for the scholarship money to kick in? I didnt take out any student loans or anything like that because I thought the scholarship would kick in by now covering my tuition but now my second tuition bill has already come and I don't have the money to cover it without the scholarship. I've been talking to the intstructors at my school and such for basically the past 4 or 5 months to make sure what I would have to cover on my own but I still havent been credited for my scholarship. What should I do? And please don't say talk to the instructors because that does not work.

To answer we would first need a little more information.

1. Have you started school yet.
2. Have you taken your APFT
3. Have you completed all your paperwork including your 104R
4. Most of all, have you signed your Contract.

If all of these have ben completed or are in the process of being completed then your fine.

There is a minimum 45 days before the Army pays the tuition for MS1's from the day they start school. Your book money could come sooner and you should receive your stipend the next full pay period after signing your contract.

As long as you have, or on track to contract your tuition will be paid.

Don't worry about the second notice or late notice from the school, they will also show late fees on your account, don't worry about those either. Every year there would be late fees on my son's school account, once the Army paid the tuition the fees were dropped. If you like you can call the school accounting office and just let them know that your on an AROTC Scholarship.

Now, if for some reason you have not contracted or have failed your APFT you may need to make other arrangements and have more communication with the school.

Don't talk to the instructors, talk to the HRA in your battalion, they are the ones that track payments.

An AFROTC Mom, but here's my 0.1954 cents. Contact the Bursar's office today! For our DS's school they could pull up your file and the AFROTC scholarship showed up on his account.

The importance of this issue is to add onto Jcleppe's post. As they stated they will send you bills and attach late fees. Think of it as mass mailings. They knew it would be coming, but that was their school procedure.

The true way to know if you are in trouble financially is to go onto your student account. Is it LOCKED? If it is locked you cannot register for next semester classes, and that is a sure fire sign to inform you the det has not processed your scholarship.

Don't look to see what is owed, look only to see if you are locked.

Remember as others have stated traditionally the tuition bill will not be paid by ROTC until end of Sept/early Oct.

You do have me questioning one thing. You said 4 or 5 months. Did you take summer courses, or did you start worrying about this after the 1st notification from the school regarding amount owed? 4-5 months ago puts you in April/May in this situation regarding the bill for the 1st semester, which would be summer tuition. Two different things, because now you are talking about summer classes and that is traditionally not covered.

That was not my post, someone accidentally used my account when I forgot to log out on a computer.I am wokring on having it deleted.

Well, if the person that used your account was asking a legitimate question, you might want to pass along the answers.

Warrior, if someone came on pretending to be you, I would be very upset and angry.

They not only posted as you, but went into your history post account to line up your last post back in July to portray you to a tee regarding your last post.

I have 2 in college now, 1 that just recently graduated, if you use the school lab, not your personal laptop, you can at least report this incident to the school.

Best wishes for a great yr at college, sorry it started this way.
