Do you buy your own school supplies like binders, notebooks, pens, pencils, etc. or are they provided? I know you are issued a computer. If you buy your own when would you suggest getting them? Should you have your parents bring them up after BCT?

Your cadre will take you to the Cadet Store to purchase school supplies in addition to the cleaning and other supplies you will need. Bring some cash or a debit card. If your parents come to A-Day, they can bring you supplies as well or send them to you after BCT. Lots of options.

And the issued computer isn't free - you have money taken out of your check to pay for it.

We brought up a bunch of school supplies on A-Day and it was good that we did as the C-Store ran out of alot of stuff. Notebooks, pens, pencils, post-its, highlighters, planner...whatever we thought our cadet would want. If your parents are able to bring stuff up, it helps. IF they cannot, no worries. Usually the lack of stock is a temporary thing.

If you're like me and actually like notebooks that don't fall apart, I recommend shipping some to yourself prior to basic. You won't be able to pick up packages during BCT but it'll be waiting for you as soon as you're done. Either that or order them after, but the mailroom is known to get backlogged at the start of new semesters (particularly in August).

...or just ask an upperclassman to pick up whatever the C-store runs out of.

These details will be easily solved when you get there. No need to worry about pencils and socks when you aren't there.
