Will 1400+ SAT scores be competitive enough for this year’s upcoming SLE?
There is more than just an SAT score the goes into deciding who gets selected for SLE.
Don’t be discouraged if you do not get selected. I had above a 1400 when I applied to SLE last year but was not selected, but I am currently 3Q with a nom and LOE hoping for the best.
I would also recommend applying to other summer programs like boys state and NASS, I had an excellent time at both.
If you have a 1500+ SAT score and a low PSAT score, will they hold the PSAT score against you?
No clue, I'd like to think I have a strong application all around. Were you weak in other aspects of your application or was your situation just an anomaly?
SLE is the academy's chance to "entice" applicants. A lot of times they will fill spots with more applicants from under-represented areas (districts/minorities/etc.) to try and encourage more to apply from those areas. Often, that means that well qualified candidates may be left out of SLE. There are several cadets who did not get a SLE spot but were later offered appointments. SLE has absolutely no bearing on your being accepted or WCS so don't sweat it.Will 1400+ SAT scores be competitive enough for this year’s upcoming SLE?

Either way, I had a great time at NASS and didn't let the fact that I wasn't selected for SLE discourage me when actually applying to West Point.
Good luck!
Spot on advice. My son was not offered an SLE spot, but he did get an LOA. Go figure...Concentrate on your application. SLE is for applicants that may not yet be committed to the idea of attending West Point, but are curious to find out more. Not getting an SLE slot in no way or form hurts your chances of getting an appointment. Good luck!
