Scouts after Eagle?

If you do decide to continue in Scouts, I would recommend participating in your Council's National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT). Some Councils do this much better than others but it is a great leadership training experience that the SAs understand and recognize. And after participating one year, you are often invited to be on the training staff, which is a great leadership experience - you are leading peers who are training leaders. My DS did NYLT at 14 and was on staff for 4 years after, culminating as SPL. During that time, he was able to teach adult leaders at Wood Badge (and unbeknownst to him at the time) taught a leadership class to our USNA's area BGO coordinator (and retired Navy Captain) who eventually presented his offer of appointment at DS's senior awards day. He was able to demonstrate continued leadership and followership growth beyond Eagle, showed commitment, and obtained an excellent letter of recommendation from his NYLT Scoutmaster that was submitted after he was CPR. This was in addition to participation in varsity sports etc.

I don't think I ever said that candidates speak directly to admissions officers. I was referring to the online application.

I disagree about not getting additional points. I did something similar on my application that had a significant impact on my application.
You are certainly entitled to your viewpoint. I've been "doing" Service Academy admissions for over 30 years and I do learn things every day. I never knew that candidates were able to see the specific points impact of individual qualifications like badges and palms. Kudos to you for being able to find that information as I've never known of even one other applicant who was able to get that information.

Well I know that stuff like
"Boys State" and then adding below "lieutenant governor of boys State" certainly helps. Can't speak to everything obviously, but that's what I noticed in my limited experience.

Thank you for the advice- planning on doing NYLT this summer. If the option is open to me, I'll also consider joining the training staff. Did your DS ever do NAYLE as well, and, if so, what was his experience like there?

Current HS Sophomore here planning to apply to USMA next year. I'm in Scouts and close to earning Eagle, and I was wondering about how much weight WP and the SA's in general give to advancement after earning ones Eagle Scout- for those familiar, things like Eagle Palms, continued leadership in my Troop, or Order of the Arrow participation. Would anything past Eagle Scout on my application be viewed as basically equivalent to it?

I'm planning to stay with my Troop and continue to give leadership to younger Scouts (possibly as a JASM) regardless, I'm just wondering the appropriate level of focus to give it and whether the extracurricular side of my application would be improved more by focusing more of my efforts elsewhere.
As an Eagle Scout offered admission, I can confidently say nothing after Eagle Scout has any bearing on admission. On the whole candidate score, which I’m sure you will learn more about one of the categories is out of school leadership. This can be earned through church groups, management jobs, and scouting. Achieving Eagle Scout maxes out this category. While I strongly encourage you to continue your scouting journey, and it may give you knowledge and tools to better your profile, the simple awards themselves earned after Eagle have no bearing

My DS attended NAYLE at Philmont and really enjoyed the program. Flew into Denver and then took the shuttle bus into camp.
