SDVET nomination?

My dad died in Afghanistan, he was a USMA 89 grad. Should I seek an SDVET nomination?
Absolutely, yes. Your father made the ultimate sacrifice and that is your right to apply for something you qualify for.

Also if that is your real name, change it. It’s best to be anonymous.

Absolutely; if you are applying for West Point must receive it by December 15th. I have my DS SDVET nomination as well, on his USMA portal. I have that one submitted early in the process of his application.

My dad died in Afghanistan, he was a USMA 89 grad. Should I seek an SDVET nomination?
Yes, because you will automatically qualify for that nomination. Do this immediately because some appointments are already being offered to candidates with service connected nominations.

See the table on p. 7 at link below.

USMA encourages applicants, on its websites, to apply for as many nomination sources for which they are eligible. Should they wish to appoint you, this gives them maximum flexibility as to where to charge the appointment. So - you should apply for 2 Senators, 1 Representative, VP and the service-connected nom, and any others which apply. You will get that nom, as all who are eligible do, but there are only X appointments that can be charged to that nom source.
