Interested in being a SEAL?
Texas A&M has an entire platoon aimed at helping perspective cadets succeed.

I am glad to see A&M have this training program, but any details on success rates? How many have put SEALS as their #1 pick the last few years, how many received it as their service assignment, then how many made it through BUDS? If a candidate is looking for SEAL programs this kind of data is really important, regardless of the school. Any further info on social media or pages that a candidate could review for more details and data?

Found bits about the program online (not much out there) but has quite successful results. According to source of this photo, of 16 Aggies who began SEAL training, all 16 graduated.

From BUD/S? That's impressive, if true.

I was wondering the same thing. I am doubting that it’s a BUD/S stat as ROTC only gets around 15 or so spots/year and we would of heard if all of them went to A&M in a single year. I took it as they all graduated from A&M together, which is still a big accomplishment for an SMC!

Yes. That would be impressive by itself.

I don't know about A&M specifically, but I might be able to provide some general insight. The biggest points of attrition for NROTC midshipmen trying to go NSW is the application to SOAS (SEAL Officer Assessment and Selection) and SOAS itself. I don't have specific numbers, but a large number of midshipman either don't get offered spots, DOR during SOAS, or are performance dropped part way through.

If a midshipman makes it all the way through SOAS and lists NSW as their #1 choice, they have approximately a 50% chance of getting a slot at BUDS. Officer candidates in general have roughly an 80% BUDS graduation rate (it used to be lower for NROTC vs USNA, but that difference is quickly disappearing). The reason the officer graduation rate is so much higher than enlisted is because most of the officer selection and attrition happens on the front end.

One thing to note is that going forward there are going to be slightly less NSW slots for every commissioning source, as NSW is currently very highly manned.

Yep. One of these dudes on the team is my trainer and he is hardcore:rockon:
