Second Time on the Roller Coaster

I just received the Present Health Questionnaire, it states for question 2:

"Have You received any medical, psychiatric or dental care since your last DoDMERB exam? If yes, provide specific details."

Do I need to list routine checkups? I've had a yearly sports physical, a 6 mon. dental exam, and a yearly eye appt. Do I need to mention these as well as provide them with records? Or is this section reserved for more serious illnesses?

Normally I wouldn't scrutinize something like this so much, but it's DoDMERB, and the last thing I need at the beginning of the semester is something to go wrong in the medical dept.

JMPO, but I think the key word here is 'care' which in this context I would treat as a synonym for 'treatment'. So if you have only had you normal exams and cleanings then I would think the answer is 'no'. If you've gad any change in prescription or a filling then I would think the answer would be 'yes'.

My DS indicated he'd had routine, annual physical, dental, and eye exams with no abnormalities. IMO, I wouldn't leave your annual care out...it's still a medical appointment and you want to be upfront about everything.

Forgot to add that they did not ask for his records from those visits.

Thanks for the advice. I opted to indicate that I had had routine appts. done, and they confirmed I was still in excellent health. I am sending it in without records, and I will provide records if they request them.

That was pretty painless compared to the DoDMERB kerfuffle I had to deal with last year :shake: I will be happy if this is all I have to do in the medical dept.

Hope everyone is enjoying the last couple weeks before heading off to their new adventures! Am I the only parent that is pretty sure she's gonna cry on the drive home?

For those that have delved back into the MOC applications, what is your experience with the SAT and ACT scores? Of course I now everyone is different, but did they keep last year's packet or must we resend the scores? My son has emails into each MOC but hasn't heard back yet.

I know that my MOC representative for my district has mine from last cycle, because his lady that deals with that stuff told me should would pull up my file since I am reapplying. Not sure if the Senators would have them...my guess is NO because that's a TON more applicants for that nom category.

My DS called MOC before submitting his packet. He was told to resend ACT scores. Takes about 10 days to receive. He sent the remaining information about a week later. And, yes, I too will shed some tears on the drive home. Best of luck to everyone on the car ride home!:eek3:

DS will leave tomorrow to start his year as a Foundation prep. MOC staffer asked that he update his application and personal statement but will use his SAT scores and other docs from his initial app. Expecting tears on the flight home.

Got notified by DoDmerb today that I'm still medically qualified! CFA tomorrow, then I'm done until I need to request recs from my new professors.

I really wish USMA would open up their application. It would have been nice to get my essays done before school started.

Today was one of the most difficult days I have encountered as a mother. I watched my son leave for a week of O&I before the start of his college year. I get to move him into his dorm on Friday though. I am thinking that Friday may be worse than today. I am excited for him, but he's the last to leave the nest. If anyone would like company, I will be glad to share my adult beverage with you. Best of luck to all making the journey in the days to come.

I'm with you Spelly. We dropped off our son yesterday and got him all set up in his dorm room. Yesterday was the first day of NROTC. Before we left him he gave a us a card thanking us for being his parents, for all we've done for him, and for raising him to become the man he has grown into. He put a gift card within the card for us to go to dinner. It was difficult as he too was the last to leave. I love that boy!

We dropped DS off at school yesterday and although it was difficult to say goodbye we know he will be in good hands. We were very impressed with the way the Corps of Cadets handled the whole in-processing and the meetings with the CO of his NROTC unit as well as the Commandant left us feeling reassured. This is going to be an exciting and invaluable year for our DS and although he didn't get into the USNA for 2018 he will benefit greatly over the next 9 months in further developing his leadership ability...watch out Class of 2019...my 'Fish' is more determined than ever to take on the role as 'Plebe' and Midshipman!

Just wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone good luck with the upcoming nomination interviews, many of which start in October. I will be saying an extra prayer for those of us on this ride again! Let's all relax for the next few weeks! We are about to pull out of the gate for the first hill on the roller coaster!
Best wishes to all!:thumb:

HI Old Friends!! Wishing you all the best of luck on the roller coaster. My boy seems to be doing well at USMMA. HE was told that USNA does not usually take those from other service academies so i don't think he is going forward with the rest of his application. He is getting the service academy experience and loves the smaller college situation -- total plebe class is 252! They are a very tight group. He will be able to commission into the navy at the end of the four years - although you can choose any branch - usaf, army or navy if you like. I will be here cheering you on!!

mrs. m, happy to hear your son is enjoying himself!

Before the coaster starts up spelly's hill, we will be jumping off.

As I predicted, as well as some very knowledgeable veterans, son is very happy at the University of Michigan. Although he has several weeks to go in their 8 weeks of "stress indoc", he loves NROTC. He has a great mentor and a really tight group of about 11 freshman mids. They are in the process of looking for a house for next year and will commit to a lease next week. All very exciting stuff!

I will continue to cheer you all on and pray for good news!

Thank you all for your support!

The boy is settled into classes and loves San Diego. Great school and wonderful program. We will see what the future holds.

So happy to hear this :thumb:

Just wanted to wish everyone good luck as the nomination interview process begins! Sending wishes for good grades as well. The holiday season is right around the corner. After all the interviews and grades are in, I will be taking beverage orders once again while we wait. Good luck to all!:thumb:
