Secretary of Defense Nominee

And we’re off. From the San Antonio Express. I think they just want to delete anything that shows our negative past. Like teaching about a segregated unit (a segment on women in the Air Force was also eliminated) or that hiring practices need to be amended because that’s evidence that not all white males were selected or promoted based on merit.

All too predictable.

What thread was that?

Can someone find me one post enunciating SECDEF Hegseth’s quals for the job, other than he is “common” (I’ll say), “normal”, and anti-woke. Taken all together it sounds like his confirmation hearing:

Dems: Can you tell us if you will continue to be a misogynistic, entitled, philandering drunk?

Repubs: Can you tell us about bringing the warrior ethic back to what is now a lost institution, whose most important problem is wokeness, based on your extensive O-4 background and friendship with Rob O’Neill, Eddie Gallagher and other assorted bada$$es?

I never went through enlisted BMT so I can’t say for certain, but I’m guessing that the issue was with the delivery of the content, not the content itself, and that the training probably used this as an opportunity to promote DEI and affirmative action (even though I’d say the Tuskegee Airmen are a perfect example of why affirmative action is flawed, but that’s another story). The Trump admin probably overreacted and said cut it all, so that’s what the Air Force did.

But to be fair, the left has been trying to erase aspects of our military history (i.e. the naming commission, USS George Floyd, etc.) for the past 8 years. So really this is just the pendulum swinging in the other direction. Jee, maybe if DEI and AA hadn’t been shoved down our throats by the last admin, then none of this would be happening to begin with.

You are going to be a midshipman?

Did you miss the thread on social media posts?

Best of luck. I hope you have to answer for this.
Sobriety is a good thing

The Secretary promised to quit drinking if confirmed. He was confirmed 12 hours before I made that comment, ergo he has been sober for (at least) 12 hours.

Frankly it’s worth congratulating someone for quitting drinking, because ya know it’s bad for you.

If it pleases you I have deleted that comment.

I for one don’t believe this nomination will make it past the senate so the would be sec def’s qualifications ( or more accurately lack of qualifications ) and interesting views hopefully won’t be a problem for the department.
SecDef 29 went through the process and came out victorious. SecDef 1 - GO NAVY 2029 0.

SecDef 28 left his post on Dec 22, 2023, and went under general anesthesia without informing the Commander In Chief.

The previous secretary went through the same process. (Although it’s not at all relevant I’d also add he did so with significantly less controversy, being confirmed 93-2)

I would hope our new SecDef exercises better judgement than the old one.
