Does anyone think this affects admissions immediately?

That's an interesting take but not one that I expect to take place. Merit based is what selections according toEveryone who meets the standards get thrown in a hat.
lawsuit?Nope. If it changes anything, it may help cancel the lawsuit against the USNA.
But I keep hearing that judge's rulings, and things like the appeal process, don't matter. If the lawsuit becomes moot, then SCOTUS very likely won’t be ruling on the merits of it
They don’t when they violate the separation of powers clause of the constitution. But I keep hearing that judge's rulings, and things like the appeal process, don't matter.![]()
There wouldn’t even be a ruling on the merits from SCOTUS on this case if it becomes moot. Maybe they’ll rule “this case is moot so therefore we’re not going to decide on the merits” and leave it at that. Then a justice or two will dissent and talk about the merits because why notBut I keep hearing that judge's rulings, and things like the appeal process, don't matter.![]()
I totally respect this! And it is very reassuring to me as a mom.View attachment 17816 View attachment 17817

When was the last time you saw a SECDEF in good enough shape to do PT with active duty service members?
I can answer that for you: NEVER.
He was just seen this morning in Poland, working out - in the snow - in shorts.
Tell that to the 28 old guys before him;
Forrestal- Too old
Johnson - Too fat
Marshall- Too old
Lovett- Too old
Wilson - Too fat
McElroy- Too old
Gates, Jr.- Too old
McNamara- Too old & probably beneath him
Clifford- Too old
Laird - Too fat
Richardson- Too old
Schlesinger- Too old
Rumsfeld- Too old & probably beneath him
Brown- Too old
Weinberger - Too old & probably beneath him
Carlucci- Too old
Cheney - Too fat
Aspin- Too old
Perry- Too old
Cohen- Too old
Rumsfeld - Too old & probably beneath him
Gates - Too Fat
Panetta - Way too fat
Hagel- Too old
Carter- Too old
Mattis- Too old
Esper - Too old
Austin - Way too fat
Long ago in a land far away, 29 Palms, the SECDEF walked through Camp Wilson. I had set up my BAS in the middle of the camp and had my corpsmen standing by to greet him. He and the uppity-ups walked through, literally walked through without talking to anyone. I spoke with the CO later in the day and he said he didn't speak with anyone. Strangest thing he'd ever seen he told me. An old guy in a suit and heavy overcoat just walking in the desert. My guys would have loved the opportunity to show him our gear and tell him what we do.To the people I served with, it's only one of the myriad of things that matters.

There are literally millions of people fit enough to work out in the snow. That doesn't come close to qualifying them for a cabinet-level position. In the meantime, countless young people who have committed themselves to serving their country are essentially being told they are unqualified pity-hires. I'm no military expert, but that seems contrary to maintaining any sort of positive morale in the forces we depend on to defend our democracy- or what's left of it.View attachment 17816 View attachment 17817
