Congrats tle! I know SJ well. Went to Del Mar High a few moons ago, but later moved to central CA. My DS also has noms to usafa and usna. Curious, did the Director say what set you apart for the LOA at CVW?

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to ask (I was very surprised and excited then and couldn't stop saying "Thank You!!"). Personally, I think it's my extra curricular activities (heavy emphasis on my leadership roles) and my grades. I don't have the best test scores.
This is just my personal opinion; I don't think anyone can ever predict how the board selects LOA recipients or appointees! I apologize for not being able to answer your question fully!!
