Hey All!

I had a quick (potentially dumb) question regarding sending mail during SWAB summer. Is sending mail internationally possible from the Coast Guard Academy? Are you able to get your letter weighed before being sent out? From what I understand especially for international mailing extra weight incurs more fees. I couldn't for the life of me find any information on this in other threads or FAQs.

Thanks so much!

Not a dumb question at all. Weighing and stamping may be an issue, as your cadre handle mail room visits during swab summer. My recommendation is you weigh your envelope with whatever paper you will put in it in advance of swab summer, and pre-stamp the envelopes for that weight, so they can be dropped in the mailbox without any other steps.

You can certainly send mail during Swab Summer, but weighing it for international post will not be an option. I really recommend you take pre-stamped, regular sized envelopes with you. First class rates are found on the USPS website and it's based on your destination country. ( https://postcalc.usps.com/ ) Use the "Calculate price based on Shape and Size" option, then calculate for a one ounce letter. Then, just be sure to only write 1-2 pages to insert in your envelope in order to stay under the one-ounce rate. Additional pages will add weight and may get your letter returned back to you unless you add additional postage. Good luck!
