Senior Awards Night & USNA BGO

@future_navy - why not just ask the person who'll do the presentation? Explain what you'd like in terms of presentation. Seems to me that is could be done this way.

When I last talked to my BGO he mentioned something about presenting my appointment to me and I didn't know what the senior awards thing was at that time so I kind of just smiled and nodded. I can give that a try though thanks

It was very normal graduation and Commander just came up and gave her appointment after diploma. Thought all high school graduates walked across the stage? You will at the Navy Marine Corps Stadium when you get the big one have your family sit on the east side and high up in the shade. High school presentation did not disrupt anything. Congratulations to all and fair winds and following seas.

Ill find out AF i think that may be the case but im a very shy guy when it comes to this kind of stuff  haha

Can I say this very gently: Now may be the time to begin overcoming your shyness in front of a group. Officers frequently are in front of a crowd for many reasons.

Oh Im fine in front of large groups and speaking. I do it a lot. I'm just not so found of a burst of cheers all at once towards me

Future,

Being humble is just fine. But know the military is more celebratory by nature than just about any other organization/employer (and rightly so!). Ceremonies are a way of life in the military, so you might want to start getting used to them now.

Haha, well, not worries because you won't be the center of attention at a military ceremony for some time.

Senior awards night DS's BGO had us bring his appointment folder. He had an amazing speech regarding what it takes to get in etc. The BGO did an outstanding job. SA appointments are very rare in our small town, so it was the first time that most people knew what was involved. At the end of BGO presentation the entire graduating senior class stood up almost in unison, followed by the parents packed into the gym, and gave DS a standing ovation. The next day the district superintendent told my husband she had no idea what was involved in getting into USNA!
