Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out my class schedule for next year. I am a Senior in High School and need to bring my chances of admission as high as the can be. I think I remember reading/hearing somewhere that the USAFA requires that all applicants have taken at least one computer class. Can anyone verify?

Also, I need to choose between AP Psychology and Honors Spanish V. If I drop Spanish V, I will lose Spanish Honors Society, but Psych might help me look more "well rounded"

Thanks All!

I believe the computer class is good to take, though not required. My DD never took a CS class, even though both her parents are software engineers. *sigh* ;-)

Don't drop Spanish. They want you to have 4 years of a foreign language, if possible. Also, STEM is the focus - physics, chem, math, etc.

This link should be very helpful: http://www.academyadmissions.com/ad...plicants/all-applicants/academic-preparation/

EDIT: Looks like TWO years of foreign language (I should have read the link, too!)

I would continue to challenge myself if I were you. Work to improve leadership even if you think it is great. Work to improve test scores even if they are high.

My DS (Class of 2020) just completed the following schedule his last year of high school: IB French, AP Chemistry, AP Statistics, AP Physics 2, AP Government and Politics, AP Macro and Microeconomics, and IB English 4. He also completed 2 AP level Calculus classes his sophomore and junior years and took several years of Spanish (through AP Spanish). He took the ACT his 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade years and took the SAT his 10th and 11th grade years.

Computer class is nice, but not required. My DD appointed without one. Her senior year classes were Honors Chemistry, honors Greek, honors calculus III, honors Humane Letters (history and lit) and Drama. Follow suggestions on GradWife's link. Good luck to you.
