Hi everyone--

I generally understand the USNA admissions process, but am confused in only one aspect. I was wondering if senior courses are taken into consideration, even though applications are due before the start of senior year. I realize that ones grades cannot significantly drop, but I am wondering if ones courses for senior year matter on his or her application.

I am currently finishing my sophomore year of high school, and am taking a fairly challenging course load for next year including: AP European History (and yes, I know it is typically offered sophomore year at most schools, but mine offers AP US 10th and AP Euro 11th), AP Environmental Science, AP US Government and Politics, AP English Language, Honors Physics, Honors Pre-Calculus, and Honors Chinese IV. But, my senior schedule will be much more impressive, as I will be taking AP Physics C, AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, AP Chinese, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP English Literature. Essentially, I am wondering if these classes will have an impact on my application's appearance even though I will have not taken them at the time of applying.

I hope y'all will understand what I am trying to ask, as it is very confusing, though I believe I have worded it about the best I can. Thank you all in advance, I really appreciate your responses.

Naval Academy admissions willl accept updated grades through January (maybe Feb), so yes your Sr. 1st semester performance (classes and grades will be reviewed).

I don't see anything in your past of future schedule regarding Chemistry with Lab; I trust you are aware that USNA's plebe chemistry is considered one of the most rigorous in the US, and it is a backbreaker for plebes. I strongly recommend you drop one of your econ or stats courses to take chemistry with lab - preferably AP. Someplace in www.usna.edu/Admissions you will discover that USNA has a list of recommended course for you to take - and you should do your best to comply. Trust me, the selection process is tough enough without straying into the wilderness; if you want evidence of that fact, read some of the threads from Class of 2017 candidates who are sweating out the last few days of the current selections. Best wishes.
