Senior Quarterback Dismissed from USNA

LineInTheSand is correct. Entirely correct. Period. There is a breakdown in character demands when it comes to athletes at all high-level institutions of learning. I have seen it happen too many times. Too many really great candidates get bumped by high school athletic prima donnas.

Don't disagree, but isn't that how real life works? Also, for every action there are reactions. What will be the possible consequences if we gave appointments strictly based on candidate scores (assuming somehow the candidate score system accurately evaluate candidates).

Either the evaluation system works or it doesn't. If it doesn't, it needs to be fixed. Maybe eHarmony can set up a USNA profile!

I was not a FB player at USNA, and agree that when I was there the mids felt that there was a lot of chasing of FB glory, to the detriment of consistently upholding standards (for example, giving too many second chances in bad honor cases). That was at USNA. As a Marine, I've worked with some outstanding officers who were USNA FB players and, regardless of what I may have felt about decisions at USNA, would never assume a brother Marine was a lesser officer because he played FB at USNA.

Some of you are assuming facts not in evidence. Academically, Navy Football does fine (source NCAA):

6. Stanford 90% graduation rate
7. Army 88%
8. Navy 87%
9. Air Force, Wake Forest 86%
10. Vanderbilt 85%

Speaking of Vanderbilt D1 Football players...
