Senioritis!!

My older son was so jealous of those kids that got to slack off their second semester of senior year when he had to keep focused because he had semesters 7 and 8 to report. I kept reminding him to fast forward 4 years to where he is going to be and where they are going to be. That helped him keep things in perspective. He slacked off a little and eeked out a 4.0 2nd semester instead of a 4.2 (1st semester) and is a plebe at USMA. My younger son on the other has always done very well. He's a phenomenal athlete, captain of every sports team he's on, club president, academically inclined, JROTC commander, doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs, or go to parties, all about honor and integrity and doing what's right...an ideal SA candidate. Failed pre-calculus 1st quarter of senior year (now). Senioritis hit very hard and he is busting his bum trying to recover and still be marketable. He currently has an A so intelligence was not a factor, laziness....maybe yes. A momentary lapse in judgment. Praying it doesn't cost him an appointment.

@FCH76 I just saw your post from last month. I appreciate you telling your story! Who knew that senior year would be such a struggle? There has to be value in the"came to my senses" story played out in transcripts. Believing with you that our boys will be exactly where they are supposed to be next (summer) fall!

God has a plan for them. I truly believe He will place them where HE needs them to be to have the most influence. There have been so many times that I prayed for something that didn't happen, and in hindsight, I am thankful that it didn't. I wouldn't be where I am and my kids wouldn't be who they are if some of my prayers had been answered.

God’s timing and plans are always perfect!
