Okay, About 2 weeks ago I received my disqualification letter from DoDMERB for the following:

1.) diplopia
2.) shoulder instability, history of

A little background with the shoulder problem. I went to my ortho a month ago for an evaluation and told him I had trouble inflexible shoulders. Whenever I would swim or move my arm in a certain way it would sometimes "catch." I came to learn that this is called a sublux. I told my ortho that the first sign of this shoulder problem occured during a basketball game about three years ago when I fell to the ground and had my first sublux. Now, this shoulder problem was never so serious that I had to see a doctor before, but I decided to come out with the problem to DoDMERB to make sure there was no serious problem. I had an MRI, and it found absolutely nothing wrong with my shoulder, nothing. I thought this would be significant enough to pass DoDMERB, but I was still DQed. The only thing my ortho suggested I do is do some shoulder strengthening exercises and return for a follow up somewhere in spring to ensure the problem is gone. I just wonder if I will have enough time for that follow up...

I wait anxiously everyday for the response as to whether or not Army ROTC will waive the aforementioned DQs. I wanted to know ahead of time what my options would be if either of these two waivers were denied. Could I reapply for a waiver? Would I be able to retest for double vision and do a follow up with my orthopedic surgeon? My biggest worry is that Army ROTC will just automatically deny the waivers without making me do any further medical tests. Is that even possible? I ask these questions as my shoulder currently has no serious problems( as indicated my my MRI from my ortho and I personally see no signs of double vision).

It's been about two weeks since I sent in those waivers, so I will suspect my waiver requests are close to being evaluated by the Cadet Command Surgeon.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.:thumb:

If you have any questions regarding DoDMERB about policies, procedures, your specific case (I will have to verify who you are), or anything else, I am the DoDMERB official to provide you a response. I'm always available and in most cases, will respond immediately, but will respond within 24 hours on all cases.

My email address is ALWAYS open. I'm the DoDMERB Bureaucrat Buster. Give me a chance:) Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil

Now that I've been at this for a while, I "usually" log in late at night and several times throughout the weekend. The issue is the fact that this is not an "official" site and the USAF maintains a very high level of internet security. So, I can't access the site from work---I must log in from home.

Thx in advance for your understanding, patience., and the opportunity to assist you
