Hello! My son is attending the Candidate Visit Weekend this coming weekend. He registered and has a ticket through EventBrite. We haven't received any other info..hoping he will get an email tomorrow with details on where to check in, etc. My husband and I are also tagging along and exploring Anapolis while he participates in the weekend.
Anyone else going this weekend? Have you received any info?

You should get info this week. They sometimes also post the schedule online. When I went last year there were a bunch of seminars and tours for parents… go to them! Introduce yourself to other parents. It was very insightful and well done! Mine is now a plebe.

Here's the basic schedule in case you don't have this link. Agree you'll get info likely today or tomorrow (due to holiday yesterday). https://www.usna.edu/CVW/index.php

We are heading there this weekend. I'll be solo after I drop my son off. Where are you staying?

To all the parents attending with their prospective Mids this weekend, make sure you attend the parent events on Friday. The panels and seminars are full of great information and the yard tours are excellent. Admittedly, my wife was on the fence about USNA but came away from the seminars 100% all in. The Provost’s presentation and academic information is excellent.

P.S. our plebe texted last night excited that they had “drags” coming in this weekend.

In my day, plebes loved having drags b/c it got them out of some of the "plebe stuff" like chopping, staying in the middle of passageways, only using certain sidewalks on the Yard, rates at meals, etc. Comearounds also were softer b/c the upperclass were told not to scare away candidates. :)

I have a drag, still have to do these. It's still fun!! I remember when I was excited to apply and eagerly anxious to get in. Seeing the same feeling in others, and being able to help them (albeit only a little as I have only been a Plebe for a few short weeks) has been an amazing feeling!

This was also 2/C weekend. King Hall is usually pretty good when parents are eating it 😂. I thought it was delicious when we attended 2/C weekend. There were a couple drags at the company table. It was neat to see them, too, knowing they could have been SAF members or their kids.

oh yes last year at 2C weekend they had buffalo chicken sandwiches which everyone loves - it was good!

We're a bit of food snobs. :bleh2: It is why the dude likes to come home to eat when he can. ;)

(Honestly, it wasn't bad, just not what the wifey would want to eat. She had a salad from the bar and a few bites of my stuff. I ate everything I put on my plate, which was a good bit. "Take all you want, eat all you take.")

Oily salmon, dried out roasted potatoes, and dry chicken tenders. Delish. ;)
Sounds like the same menu. Although ours was good! Plus the well stocked salad bar, and bread/sandwich station. Ice cream. We thought it was pretty good for “dorm food”.

In front of the announcer table, there were cupcakes for parents & drags. Hopefully you got some

Hopefully all the candidates had a good experience. I was there and saw them take the CFA early Saturday morning.

It was a great time to experience the Academy. Parade, 2/C parent weekend, two class reunions, a big women’s volleyball game, fall PRT, first home cross country meet, and the football game. It was a marvelous time to be there. The candidates got to see the Academy in full swing!
