Just attended an event hosted by one our states senators and found it very interesting. DS has accepted an appointment to KP this summer but since we were unable to go to an event like this last year we thought it would be fun. It was fun, but it was also very interesting in that I found myself throughout the Parents Segment on the end of my seat trying to raise my hand and tell everyone in attendance about Service Acadmey Forums! There was so much information flowing but not all of it complete, much like here. Questions about all of the academies, much
like here. Rep.s from all 5 schools and ROTC, much like here. At one point I wanted to evoke the name Ask Larry Mullen, lol. Today's discussion was mostly intended to be about the nomination process but was not accurate to all of the academies policies ( have learned that here). I know today was meant to educate and inspire in broad strokes but I was so thankful I stumbled on this site last year. How people go through this process without the resources provided here is beyond me. Finally at the end of the discussion and feedback provided by the various selection board members I had to raise my hand. Me, no credential, no experience, just a wordy MOPC ( mom of plebe candidate: self titled). I did and told of the place where I have learned the most. Of course I use the verified information I have gleaned here to ask I better questions of nomination sources, admission offices, school councilors and you of course back to you folks. The guides of whom I am grateful. Even DS remarked how if he had went last year he would be so overwhelmed by it all. But today he had great time speaking with the young man 1c from KP. He was also very impressed by the AFA who is the number one student at the academy, etc.
I did see a lot of parents scribbling down the web address as I talked! :thumb:

Crap! Sorry about the bad Proofreading above. My device is very hard to edit on ( dinosaur IPad .1) but you get the idea I was trying badly to convey. Besides perfect spelling is just showing off!

Thank you for the kind words about the site, Lynpar. I'm glad you were able to get the word out about us and also attend the event.

The moderator team and I really enjoy being a part of this site and it's great to get feedback from our members about how the forum has helped them.

Thanks again.
