Setting the record straight

Be sure to talk to current C4C's while there -- they are now recognized and life is much different for them than it was 2 weeks ago.

There is nothing wrong with choosing AFROTC over AFA.

you might want to PM Pima - her son chose ROTC over AFA and is now a 2Lt at UPT.

When visiting the academy, will I be able to stay multiple days? I got a portal update today that said my package was coming. Will the info I receive say I can only stay one night? I want to stay multiple days to make sure I successfully make up my mind!

Not dogging anyone, but this thread wasn't suppose to be about a certain immediate question/answer. It was to clarify misnomers, misunderstandings, etc... about the academy life and the application process.

If you have specific questions about YOUR scenario, please start a new thread. If you want to mention something about the process and the academy that some may believe that is incorrect, then by all means add it.

I.e. Saying there is no commitment initially for the ROTC scholarship; is a good addition. EVERYTHING ELSE that's been added to this thread since..... is NOT.

Academy processing of application:

1. NO, you are not given MORE/DIFFERENT points for one sport over another on your application. e.g. football vs baseball vs basketball vs x-country

2. NO, you are not given MORE/DIFFERENT points for one extra curricular activity over another on your application. e.g. scouts vs cap vs jrrtoc vs FBLA vs etc...

This is a big misconception. Some believe that if they are in JrROTC or CAP, that they have a "Leg Up" on the competition for an appointment. Truth is; the academy will take a 4H, FBLA, President of the Spanish club, etc... with years of experience, growth, and leadership than they will a JrROTC or CAP member who is simply a member. It's not WHAT CLUB you're in; it WHAT YOU DO in that club that matters.
