I really feel like I would benefit from doing the SAP program at Marion for USAFA instead of continuing to apply to the service academies. Would I be seen as a quitter if I didn't didn't finish them and did the SAP program instead? Would I not be considered "competitive" compared to other candidates? I know MMI is an awesome school but I'm having some doubts.

One way to look at this is if you don’t complete the application and go through the process until told Yes or No, and if No, you would not be seen as a re-applicant, someone who is given a No but shows grit and determination by excelling in an alternate plan and jumping right back in to apply again, ready to fully commit to a complete new application cycle process.

I concur with Capt MJ. Just the experience of going through the application process will teach you a lot about yourself and your desires. While I've seen students get accepted from MMI's program without having applied before, the vast majority are reapplicants that have close ties with their ALOs.

In my opinion you're looking up at the mountain and getting intimidated. Start climbing; the view gets better the further along you are.
