Show Me the $$$

DS contracted last Thursday. In looking at his account with the bursers office the scholarship money has not been paid yet ( I know it may be too soon since contracting). I did see where the school tacked on a finance and late charge but the school said they would back it out once ROTC pays. DS will be checking with the HR person today. Delayed payments seems to be the norm and not the exception.

For MS1 cadets that contract there is a 45 day period before the tuition is paid.

Now, sometimes it takes a while after that 45 days before the payment is actually made, but it won't be before the 45 days. Book money will probably come around that time as well.

He should start getting his stipend right away, paid from the day the contract was signed and submitted. Payments are direct deposit and on the 15th and the 30th.

I've seen people mentioning an "HR person" to contact. Who is that and are they from your battalion or from cadet command? I apologize if that was a stupid question

Each battalion will have a HR person. This person takes care of a lot of the paper work, travel, and pay issues. You should be able to look at a list of your Cadre and find the name of your HR person.

Not a stupid question. There is usually an HR person at your Det/battalion, but they don't have any control over what happens with the Bursar's office outside of notifying them that you are on scholarship and have activated it. Most colleges have an "ROTC guy" at their Bursar's office that deals with all ROTC scholarships. Methods differ from having the system "ignore" your unpaid tuition and fees until CC gets around to sending out the money (which btw almost never actually comes in 45 days whether you're a 1st yr or 4th yr cadet) to inputing "ghost money" in your account as a place holder as soon as they recieve word from the HR person at your battalion that you've contracted. It is best to physically go to the Bursar's office, ask for the person that deals with ROTC scholarships, and talk to them about it. He/she has the power to balance out your account in a matter of minutes. When the HR person at my Det was late getting the list of AFROTC scholarship cadets to the Bursars office last year and the deadline for fee payment was THAT day at COB or they would cancel my classes, I literally stood over him and watched him input my "ghost money". He remembered me from last semester and after doing a quick check to make sure I was still in AFROTC he fixed it then and there. Sometimes this is what it takes. Bothering ppl til they get your money right :wink:

Jcleppe, thanks for the input. I did not know about the stipend money schedule. Can you tell me is the $300 paid in 2 pmts (15th & 30th) or one lump sum monthly?

jamesb, in talking with the bursers office at DS school they have a point of contact assigned to ROTC and all other "third party payers". My understanding is that the ROTC unit HR person will contact the POC at the school to initate the scholarship payment.

I will pass on info as I get it.

This meaning that my account will show the stipend on either the 15th or the 30th?

HR = Human Resource

You will be paid bi-monthly. Half the 15th and half the 30th.

Son said pay is retro-active to the day he passed the APFT, not the day he signed the contract.

It really depends. You will get paid for the time after you contract, but it can take a while the 1st semester your on scholarship. For AFROTC pay days are close to the ones you listed so you may see it at the 45 day mark or you may get a ton of back pay late Sep early Oct like I did. Stipend does become consistent though in the semesters thereafter.

Just checked DS bursers account, AROTC paid fall tuition/fees this afternoon.:shake: Now that was fast!!!! Took about 1 1/2 business days! These folks are good. :thumb:
