My test date is creeping up on me and I am just going to use this post to think out loud.

Note: I am reapplying from AFROTC

My unofficial results are as follows (what I have gotten during practice):

Bball Throw: ~72'
Pull-Ups: 18 (14 last year)
Shuttle: ~8.4 s
Modified Sit-ups: 85-90
Pushups: 75
Mile: ~6:30-6:45

My question is this. Is the posted average of 8.1 seconds for the shuttle run realistic? I am a pretty athletic candidate and I cannot believe that this is the "average" of incoming cadets when the max score for this event is 7.8 seconds. I have used this, and every other posted maximum, to drive myself for a better score than my last application but I am still wondering how that is mathematically possible to be the average.

Also any comments on anything that should be improved are welcome. :)

Plenty of topics here on SAF and the internet/youtube on this question.

Best way to improve times on shuttle run is by working on your technique.

These are very good scores. I wouldn't dwell too much on your 8.4 seconds. IMO, it's pretty inflated, but if you want to actually run fast, run like you're mad. Just make sure that your can actually perform that well in every event at the actual test.

If I'm your ALO, I'm submitting those scores and if it's during a duty day, you'll see a big black CHECKMARK show up on your portal and that's that.

These are FINE; do NOT overthink it!!

You're good!
