I received an email today from the Director of Admissions telling me that my impressive academic record has gotten the attention of West Point. It also tells me that I can request a guide to use if I am considering becoming a Cadet. (Which I am) She goes on to tell me that they feel that I am a strong fit for West Point. What is the significance of this email?

From a previous thread I think you may have received an invite because you were not competitive enough for an LOA, but still very competitive. Keep pushing and complete your application, do what you can control.

Are you a high school junior? My DS started getting similar emails the summer before his junior year and they continued (both email and regular mail) until he applied for SLE in the winter of his junior year, I’m pretty sure that 10th grade PSAT scores, that they get from College Board, triggered the emails because he had never had any previous contact with West Point. It means they want you to apply.

If you’re a senior with an open application and get this email, not sure.

That reads word for word like one of DSs old emails from summer before senior year.

Your scores must be in their criteria for a mailing list from collegeboard. Nothing more or less.

My DS received 2 emails just like that. One in January of Junior year and one in July. I believe they were triggered by ACT scores that he sent to WP. In July all WP had for him was ACT and transcript.
He did receive a LOA this past month when his application was 90% completed. The early emails as stated above seem driven by potential academic fit. But like every thread here describes the candidate has to continue to run through the tape

I'm a Junior but I didn't take the PSAT in 10th grade. I did take it this year on October 14th.

I also got an email similar to yours yesterday. It looked like it was part of a mailing list similar to other colleges.

I got this email too. “Your impressive academic record has gotten the attention of the United States Military Academy at West Point..” I’m sure West Point doesn’t just hand out emails like this, so take this into consideration and do your best from here and all the way to your application. Good luck
