    WHOS EXCITED for PARENTS WEEKEND????

    MEEEEE ‍♀️!!

For those who have been through it, what’s the single best moment? I suspect it will be the minute I see his eyes .

We went through this last year. We are lucky enough to live close to Annapolis and had been able to put eyes on her a few times at mass and parade line up. That was amazing but really hard to not talk, hug, cry, etc.

My single best moment was finally putting my arms around her! It was an emotional weekend realizing our lives with DD will never be the same. They will be exhausted, hoarse, and full of stories. Enjoy every minute!

There are tons of old threads about what to (and not to do) during PPW. To sum it up, this WE is about your DS/DD. Let his/her desires (not yours) guide you -- some plebes want to go out and about; most want to sit in the hotel/house and veg. There is another 4 years to do everything you want to do.

Totally get that ️. DS has said he can’t wait to do stuff. I actually suspect when the weekend is in his lap, he WONT want to do stuff. But whatever he says, we do. No questions asked.

Except for mass together in the chapel. As a family. That’s pretty much non negotiable. I think haha. We shall see.

    I’m so excited. And happy.

Single best PPW moment? Seeing him in his summer whites for the first time. Proud moment. Since plebe year we rarely see him in uniform. And those summer whites can get dirty easily. Your newly minted Plebe will probably warn / tell you all about it.

USMA parent here. When we saw my DD last year at USMA A day (which is the equivalent of USNA Parent weekend), my wife would not let her go! She held that hug for what seemed like an eternity. Especially seemed long since I was waiting to get my hug in as well. The first thing I did was take a long look into her eyes.

My DS wants the largest milkshake available in the area.
He also wants to sleep, and be a slug by the pool.

It's a lot to plan, but we have it covered. :)

Chick & Ruth's Colossal Shake (6 pounds) for a mere $18.99 is calling his name!

Some tips for parent's. 1)Bring bleach pens because just looking at our whites makes them dirty. 2)Feed them anything because KH food gets old after awhile. 3)Let them sleep. I remember I had told my parent's I wanted to do all this fun stuff with them, but I took my first >2 minute shower and sat down on a comfy couch...I was gone for the rest of the evening/night.

TL;DR - Just let them do their thing because it has been/will be a long time since/til they get to do their own thing again.

Looking forward to this weekend with our family and letting DS choose what we do. He said during his last call that he doesn’t want to waste time. I’m thinking long showers, slow meals, and naps!

And I can’t imagine their notifications on their phones! DS has requested we bring Fortnite. So we will. And happily watch him play. Also the movie Hacksaw Ridge (don’t know why that one?). Also his two state championship football rings (odd request...maybe other plebes have their special mementos there??). I am enjoying packing!!

“Hacksaw Ridge” is a fantastic movie of courage, conviction and honor. Should be required viewing for all Mids and Cadets.

Hah! The infamous Fortnite! DS came home 2nd block and played Fortnite, ate and slept almost the entire time. We have learned not to plan anything during his visits home without consulting him.

My '19 plebe got sick PPW and needed to sleep. She'd finally let her guard down and boom! My favorite moment was definitely hugging her for the first time. Make sure someone gets a pic of that if you can.

Yep, let your Plebe take the lead. We went to the mall, he bought sunglasses and a mofi, then we ate lunch - his first soda in 6 weeks. Spent most of the weekend in the hotel room where he played video games with Mid Sib (we brought the PlayStation) and mostly just relaxed.

Best moment - that first hug, no doubt about it.

Those hugs are training for future hugs, my favorite hug - end of deployment pierside hug with DH - with intensity aligned to number of months gone without one. The 11-month one was a good one. I didn’t have a chance to meet him mid-cruise at a port call. Pesky cyclone altered the schedule.

Our Plebe had lost about 15 lbs he couldn't afford to lose. I hugged a bald stick.

This year, I'm looking forward to that ring weekend hug and then that graduation hug.
