SLE acceptance emails are going out!

My son got an SLE acceptance today! He called me and said it was for week "0." Does that mean a week will be assigned, or will they go by his initial preference? He is excited!

There are some forms that need to be filled out plus the money. That all needs to be received and processed before a week will be assigned.

Hi everyone,

I just opened up my email and was thrilled to see that I have been offered to attend Summer Leadership Experience at West Point. Having been denied from USAFA Summer Seminar this Monday, I am very eager to accept the offer to attend SLE. However, I have not yet heard back from the Naval Academy regarding NASS, which I applied to on Janurary 2oth. Because the Naval Academy is my first choice, I would choose NASS over SLE if I were fortunate enough to receive an offer to attend. West Point is requiring that all registration and payment be submitted by March 10th, which is less than one month away. Should I continue to hold out until, say, March 1st to hear from Navy, or should I go ahead and send in my registration forms and payment now? Thanks, and Good Luck to all still waiting to hear back!

You have a little time before March 10th gets here if you want to hold out a few weeks waiting for NASS. The NASS acceptance emails are suppose to start rolling out this coming Tuesday per the seminar the Navy held on Wednesday night.

Bandathlete157, congratulations on being accepted!!!! I too have been denied from the USAFA Summer Seminar. However, I would likely not have been able to attend anyway. SLE in my first choice by far, and I have been anxiously checking my emails every few hours since I first heard they were sending out acceptance emails. I applied January 16th. Just out of curiosity, what are your stats that you put on your application??

Thanks so much, I am very excited to have been offered to attend SLE. I tried sending you a private message regarding my "stats", but I am afraid the system is not allowing me to do so. If you could change your settings so that I could start a private conversation with you, I would appreciate that. Sorry for the trouble, I'm just really not about posting what I put on my application on the public forum. Thanks.

Thousand of posts in regards to "stats" are all over this forum...I don't believe your stats are a National Secret. I think "Frere00" is just trying to get a stare and compare to see how he stacks up and what his chances are.

And there is nothing wrong with someone not wanting to post their stats...

I'll give it to you, I actually got a kick out of the idea that I would regard my stats as a "National Secret" because a) they're not spectacular and b) I'm not a prig. I am perfectly comfortable with sharing the scholastic, athletic, and extracurricular achievements that I provided on my application, but as it remains my information I will only make it available as I see fit. I am not about posting a laundry list of my application information on a public forum, but I am not trying to withhold it from someone who wants to message me privately about it. Thank you.

I think I was over qualified but who knows the exact formula they use to evaluate these applications.

I just read the Naval Academy website, about the Summer Seminar, in the Admissions / Selection part), and it said : students will be notified of their status by April 15 of the application year. My DD is waiting too, she get offer from AF and is thrill about it :), still waiting for SLE her # 1 choice, and also Navy SS. Good luck. Just double check this info, before any decition. If you were mi kid, I will said to accept the offer, and if Navy want you too, you can still decline the other one (if you didn't pay yet), but don't miss the experience.

The week and workshop will be assigned once they receive all of those forms which you can find in the candidate portal; the faster you get those in, the more likely they'll give you your first preferences because spots for those fill up.

Yea you are a lot more qualified that I am. Some of it has to do with geographic location and the speed that you applied. If you applied at the last minute, because their acceptance is on a rolling basis, the spot for your area may have already been filled by someone. Also race plays a factor because they want diversity, so if you aren't a minority that may have had something to do with it. The essay too, I think.

But I don't know, because you literally aced your SAT and ACT and are obviously extremely good at some difficult sports. I got a 1400 on the SAT, 33 on the ACT, and don't have nearly as much athletic achievement and I got in but I applied on the first day.

Is this legitimate? If so, holy cow. But I have also heard that sometimes if they have a choice between someone who they think has always wanted to go to WP and it's their dream, and someone who doesn't know much about the school they will pick the person who doesn't know much. Their goal is to get people interested in West Point. At least that's what I've heard about on several occasions on this site.

Here is a link to the New York Yankees 2016 Draft Sections: http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/team/draft.jsp?c_id=nyy.

It's safe to assume SAS29 is not one of the athletes in this selection, given that the youngest player was born in June of 1998, making him over 18 years old and ineligible for SLE. I would say SAS29 has played a little joke on everyone on this forum, and I sincerely hope he did not actually put this spurious information on his real application.

Yea I'm pretty sure it's not by region. I'm from Tennessee and was accepted on Friday.

"It's a joke son, a joke."

For all the ones who still waiting..hold on!!, my DD receive her e-mail yesterday for SLE, after waiting for days, fingers cross and good luck to all.

I applied to SLE and NASS in January, I haven't heard back from either, there is the "official" cut-off date, but how late would last-minute acceptance letter be submitted? Also is there any way to update SAT scores for NASS? SLE has the whole portal system, so updating is easy.
