SLE Acceptance

Our DD just received her acceptance to SLE. She accepted it but the week assignment said "unassigned". She was not able to select a week of her choice.

The portal reads "*NOTE: This status means you've accepted an offer to attend SLE, however your acceptance has not yet been formally processed by West Point.

You will have to send in the paperwork before they assign you a week based on your original preference.

So you guys are saying that there's a chance that I might not be accepted to my preferred session even after I get the acceptance letter? I have been accepted for session 2 and I have yet to send in my confirmation forms and other forms.

Im not entirely sure as I am in the same position you are. I have been accepted, and my week says "Unassigned" even though week 2 was my preference. If anything, just get your paperwork in ASAP to try and secure your preferred week. (just my 2¢)

I have yet to send in my paperwork, but my status has already changed to "week assigned: 2." My status still states that I am ACCEPTED/IN PROGRESS.

My sister got into SLE too. She's also "unassigned. " not sure if this happens because of stats or new procedures. I attended last year and got into my preferred week. Although, I was accepted in April last year

DS's portal said unassigned for about a day, then changed to assigned. His paperwork is ready to be mailed today as soon as I go get a money order,

I just accepted the SLE offer and I also have a few questions to ask. First of all, how do the shirts fit? Is it possible to change sizes once you try them on? I usually wear Large but my body shape might change to a X-Large (puberty and working out). And second of all, are you given the chance to change your workshops? Or do you actually choose your workshops once you arrive at West Point? And last of all, if I play tennis for my high school, should I bring my tennis racket to play during intramural time? Thank you for your time.

And also, (this may seem like a stupid question) do SLE attendees have to follow the packing list? I'm not sure if I would like to bring a bed linen and blanket and have to pay luggage fees for the airline. Would a plain old sleeping bad suffice? And also, on one of the SLE Offer Kit forms, I'm confused about the "notary" form. What do you exactly put on the "Name, Age, Relationship"? Sorry for two consecutive long questions; I'm just very curious and uncertain about several things. :)

One of your parents has to get this form notarized. Meaning that he or she can't sign it until they go before a notary public. You can find a notary public at your nearest UPS store.

The Name, Age, Relationship part is your name, your age, and "son."

As for the packing list, this is something you will learn once you become part of the military: you follow instructions. If they tell you to bring something, you bring what they tell you. Even if it doesn't make sense, you follow what they tell you.

Following instructions will make your life a lot easier.

I brought a sleeping bag last year for that same exact reason. It worked 100%. All they require is that you keep it neat. If it's cheaper for the sleeping bag, do that! They just suggest bed linens because you will be sleeping on a bed and most people don't use a sleeping bag on a bed.

T-Shirts ran big two cycles ago, a medium fits almost large so a large should fit someone who is borderline XL (DS2 was trying on DS1's shirts last night). Don't know about changing workshops. The schedule is pretty full so you might not have time for tennis unless you like to play between Taps and Reveille.
