SLE Admission Status 2018

DS was accepted into NASS in February but still has not heard from SLE application. Hoping to hear something either way soon.

Same here for DD. She accepted NASS. Applied to SLE, but for same week as NASS acceptance, so likely won't go to SLE even if she gets in. Nearly impossible to switch sessions bc of other conflicts with school and post-season school sports

It is so hard to fit it all in!!! DS asked his Blue and Gold officer whether he should attend Boys State or NASS and he strongly advised NASS over Boys State. This surprised us since it is counter to other comments I have read on this board. They are the same week and we had to choose between them. Still hoping to get into one of the later SLE sessions. Waiting for a response is a little taste of what we have in store next year. Lots of waiting!!!

IN MY ONSERVATION ONLY NOT BASE ON FACTS.... it seem West Point is big in Boys State. Naval academy prefered an Eagle Scout. I talked to several West Point grads and all of them said “go to Boys State over SLE” again my opinion ..you can delete if against the rule!!!

Typically, how long does it take for you to hear back about admission/denial into the SLE? I submitted mine on March 7th, and was wondering when I should estimate to hear back. I know that it is a rolling admissions process, but I'm guessing the turn-around time for a full evaluation would be relatively consistent with other applications. I have already been accepted into NASS, and am trying to coordinate weeks and plan everything out. Thank you for your time if you're reading this!

My DD applied 1/22/18 with no response (still pending). Already accepted into NASS (session 3) and Girls State (CA). Since it is Friday so wondering if anyone has heard anything today?

Excited to go to Session 1 of the USNA SS & then to Session 2 of the USMA SLE & then to Boys state. Still waiting for the USMC ALL American Academy selection. It will be a busy month of June. But it will all be worth it.

DD applied 1st week SLE opened. Still No word; Applied first day for NASS & as far as I can tell was accepted in 2nd wave of acceptances.

Conclusion: There is no magic formula for notifications. You hear when you hear.

I have the same schedule: Session 1 NASS, Session 2 SLE, then Boys State beginning June 16. What state are you from?

I have a question about act/sat/psat regarding SLE. On the portal it says that the scores you input are only on file and they're not official until you send a physical copy. Do you have to send a physical copy when applying to SLE or just West Point?

Just West Point. I was accepted to SLE with unofficial scores and just submitted official ones a few weeks ago.

As an add-on, you can send your SAT scores via collegeboard (about 20 dollars if I recall correctly). The official ones will be inputted a few weeks after you have CB send them. WP allows you to decide which scores to submit and omit. (i.e., I sent my 1540 score instead of my 1510 score).

I would like to counter that advise and strongly recommend Boys State over NASS. NASS is a pure marketing tool. Boys / Girls State are not and counts for real at USNA. My DS got turned down for NASS went to SLE, AFASS, and Boys State. Boys State instructors are all US Marines. And the Boys State Leadership take great pride in having Marines at Boys State.

My DS got his LOA from USNA in Sep and got full Appointment in January with a Congressional Nom. It’s your DS call but I wouldn’t let my DS drop Boys State over NASS, now that I know what matters more.

Can anyone help me out? I applied to the SLE camp the minute it opened. My application is still pending as of January 15 it says , is something wrong ? did i not get accepted? or should still wait for the approval or denial?

Anybody get in recently? My DS's portal is still open and he has not received a rejection. Hate to be impatient but we have some other summer invitations we have to respond to and are waiting on SLE first. Thanks everyone for your updates and congrats to those already in the program!
