SLE Admission Status 2018

Not yet. Based on past posts on the forums they will start rolling out mid-February.

Wait can vary. I didn’t find out I was rejected till April 6. Hold on! If you don’t get your answer in Feb there are kids who took a while to figure out their status!

This is true. Acceptance or denial to SLE is not an indicator that you will be rejected from West Point, provided that you work hard and raise your standardized test scores. If you are rejected from SLE, use it as a learning opportunity. Do not fret over it. I used the time I would have spent at SLE going to Girls State and preparing for/taking the ACT.

My DS acceptance notice and letter came in on Feb 16 Thursday so academy must be sending out results weekly at the end of the week. Hang tight and enjoy what you’re doing. You’ll get results until April. Last year NASS went on until May and Air Force was done my March.

Look out for Scholarship opportunities to attend. For select few, Air Force invited 150 candidates to compete for fully paid scholarship to attend, Air and Program Fee. About 35 were awarded the Merit Scholarship. This is a nice bonus to your summer trip plans for those who live far from USAFA. You will have to submit transcripts, test scores, essays, CFA to compete for scholarship so if you live far away and have a strong package then be ready. Merit Scholarship is by invitation only from Admissions. USMA has something similar but not sure how they do it. I don’t think USMA is Merit based rather need based. If you live near then I don’t think you qualify. USCGA also has need based Scholarship.

Enjoy the summer programs. If you get it and can go absolutely do it! All of the Academy Programs. Best way to find out which service and Academy culture is a better fit for you. That will be very clear! Campus and environment is more subjective but Air Force hands down has the most modern facilities and perhaps more athletic infrastructure. It has the largest real estate among the big 3. Navy has the smallest facilities among the 3 but my impression Navy offers equally competitive opportunities to candidates and cadets/Mids.

If anything, and you are still exploring which service, your summer visits will help you Rank which Academy is your #1 Choice or equally #1 choice ^^

Hello Everyone! My name is Elizabeth and I have applied to SLE as well. My application as of this morning is Pending! I did get an email confirmation and very excited on the opportunity. I have been to the campus 3 times. I attended Track Camp last summer and my grandfather took me. He retired as a LT. Col in the Reserves. My dad took me last October and we went to the Eastern Michigan game. It was a very exciting time to be on campus and watch the Black Knights win in a thrilling game, they stopped Eastern Michigan at the 1 yard line as time expired.

Good luck to you Elizabeth. You’ll love the SLE, the West Point tradition and the ceremony at the indoor Hall and the outdoor Army training and fraternity. I wish I can post some pictures and videos here but not sure if I should.

I came from a district that doesn't have crazy competition (it isn't non-competitive, but it's definitely not another NY-3) and I did not make it.

I can see you are very much looking forward to go to SLE, as was I.

Here are some scenarios and my advice to you, because you will be either 1 of 2:

For candidates who are NOT SELECTED:

Okay, so you didn't make the cut. Spend your time doing something else productive like Boys/Girls State. Gamble with Governor or Nation...that will help you. Raise the bar for yourself on your standardized tests! The fact that you didn't make it means that there's probably somebody with a better score in close proximity to you...

Please, please, please...if you don't make it, do NOT let that discourage you! Applying to SLE is nothing like applying to West Point. You plug in your test scores and some other information and that's it. No physical test. No medical exam. No nomination required. SLE is a marketing tool. That's not to say that it's bad or anything because it's a fantastic opportunity and my friends loved it (also, it's a GREAT marketing tool. It does its job), but an offer to SLE is not an appointment to West Point.

For candidates who are SELECTED:

Congratulations! You made it! Now start preparing for the CFA because you'll take one there. My advice is to practice it in sequential order with the time ticking as it does in the real trial. If you don't do as well as you thought you would, or (god forbid), you're what they call a "barfer," keep training...have a ton of fun at SLE! There are kids who wanted to go who didn't get to. You will also make friends at SLE that will be in your West Point class if you receive the appointment. This is not where it ends. Do the same thing I advised a person who didn't make SLE to do. Try and find time for your Boys/Girls State program and get your standardized test scores up if you can.

I see kids get lazy after they've been accepted to SLE just as often as I see friends who didn't make it get discouraged. Thank god it does not happen to everyone. If you do make SLE, please, please, please DO NOT start slacking off because you think you're good enough to get into West Point. Kids get into West Point who didn't make SLE and kids get into SLE that don't make West Point.

It is by no means a determining factor.
I hope you will follow my advice.

Good luck! Beat Navy!

Last year I got my offer on Feb 3rd

Did you apply the first day? How competitive was your district?
I applied first day and I'm from NJ-09 and north jersey/ new york area is pretty competitive. Im under the impression that SLE doesn't take into account district and just offers appointments based off PSAT scores or SAT/ACT

That could be true. I have a friend who probably had around a 27 when she applied (she later was admitted to USMA with a 31) and she got into SLE. I don’t know what reasons they have for admitting certain people. Then again, she did have a lot of connections.

I have a question regarding SLE admissions in regards to PSAT/SAT/ACT scores.

After inputting my PSAT and SAT scores into the system when I first registered, I then proceeded to look at my profile, which noted that my SAT score was unofficial while the PSAT score was verified and valid. My first question is whether the SLE admissions process will take my PSAT (official) and SAT (unverified) scores into consideration, or if they will only consider my PSAT scores, as it is the only confirmed score.

My second question is: with a 1440 (690V/750M) PSAT and 1540 SAT (740V/800M) while living in CA-45 as an Asian-American male, what are my chances of admissions to the SLE?
