I know that the application does not open until the 15th, but does anyone know what it might look like so I can be prepared when the time comes.

It'll pretty much be your standardized test scores. I recommend sending them all, and now.

@GoArmy2022 is there a minimum score requirement for the second candidate kit to open? Just curious because as of right now I have only taken the PSAT.

There is a set of minimums, and being below these minimums will usually prevent a candidate from being able to open a file. Scores slightly above these minimums may cause a file to be closed until scores are brought up. Sometimes these files are never opened again. It all depends on the WCS, which nobody knows exactly how to calculate except for those in Admissions.

I do not know what these minimums are, but West Point’s average SAT/ACT scores for admitted candidates are included in the class profiles.

West Point will use the PSAT for early evaluation ONLY. When you open up your portal, you will see that there is a note in there that says that. Try and take a standardized test as soon as you can.

Good luck, and go Army!!!

Hi I saw your response and I was wondering if you think attending SLE makes a difference when applying. I am newly learning about West Point, also a girl and junior, and I'm not sure what I should get involved with besides academics to increase my chances of getting in.

Hey! I actually don’t know if attending SLE helps your application or not. I do know that West Point encourages candidates to visit them at one point or another.

CANDIDATES FOR 2023,

Do NOT be discouraged if you are rejected from SLE! I was. It is NOT the end of the world, and just because you got rejected from SLE does not mean you will be rejected from West Point! You do not need a nomination to attend SLE. You do not need to pass a CFA. You do not need to pass DoDMERB. It is purely your test scores.

The West Point application itself is...vastly different. Plus, you have tons more time to improve your file before your portal opens! Don’t forget Boys/Girls State...

Good luck!
