I emailed admissions after I filled out the first step candidate questionnaire telling them that I was interested in doing SLE (I didn't see the page where I could click "I'm interested in SLE" after I submitted the questionnaire). Admissions team responded saying they changed my profile to say that I was interested in doing SLE. They also said that people who got in would find out towards the end of March and people who didn't get in would find out in April. I haven't any decision yet and I submitted my questionnaire March 23rd. Is it safe to assume that I didn't get in since I didn't get an email yet?

Last year, my DS submitted the first day the portal opened Feb 1(?) and he did not get his SLE acceptance until end of March/early April. They were still sending out acceptances mid to late April. You will be notified either way.

Two years ago, my ds got rejected for SLE at the end of April and then received an offer to attend the very next day.

How does that work? Did an extra spot open up?
We have no idea. Not sure if there was a waiting list that he was on or what but he was really happy to receive the 2nd email after getting rejected by both SLE and NASS the day before.

The good news is that you have initiated the application process. I tell all of my students that being invited to SLE (or the other seminars) is 'gravy.' The majority of cadets (and midshipmen) did not attend SLE or other summer seminars.

By the way, if you are not selected, there are other great ways to see the Academy. One good route is by attending one of the USMA summer sports camps. Many of my students have participated in them across all of the SAs. Students stay in the dorms, eat in the mess hall, meet cadets and staff, and they also work with the coaching staff.

Best of luck to you!

Decisions may be coming out a bit later this year, as they had extended the deadline to apply to SLE to April 1st.
