Hi everyone! I'm going to be going to I-day June 30. Unfortunately I strained my calf muscle. It is mild and I can run through it. However, do I have to tell them when I get there and if so is this serious enough to get me sent home?

If it's just a strain, and not that serious, and you can run through it.. there's no need to worry everyone on I-Day when you have even a slight chance of being sent home.
Just my opinion.

Derek Jeter got an appointment? :shake:

You have almost 2 weeks to heal. Rest and massage, then get inducted. If it gets to the point where its affecting your performance - tell them, they won't boot you out.

It is highly likely that the Corpsman will ask you questions during your I-Day examination which will cause you to appear evasive if you do not acknowledge the injury. Be entirely truthful.

Ice it, stretch it and rest it. You'll be fine. Enjoy the ride!!

Take the time now to heal from your injury. Don't make it worse or you will be miserable during plebe summer.

majority rules! stay off of it, LOTS of icing ( 20 on 20 off tends to be the typical sports medicine analysis). If you have been maintaining good physical shape, you won't get out of shape within a week. Just don't forget about your push ups. And enjoy the final week with family and friends.

I assume you're already doing everything possible to get it to heal as quickly as possible.

But let's say that it's bothering you a bit on I-Day. If you are convinced you can run on it - then I wouldn't even mention it.

Try not to show a noticeable limp.

listen buddy,

i am in the class of 2014. like all the comments above have said, if you can work with it, go with it. You will not get kicked out for a calf strain or pain or whatever you have. There are so many chit surfers during plebe summer (people who pretend to be injured or milk an an injury so they will not have to participate in the phyically demanding tasks of plebe summer) that you will see your injury is not soo bad (some people chit surf for months, even into the ac year). even if you do have to go on chit and rest for a couple days, do not be ashamed. so long as you do not milk or take advantage of your medical condition, which it sounds like you will not), you will not be seen as a chit surfer (the lowest on the totem pole). btw, what company/platoon are you in for the summer?

also, one quick tip, memorize "invictus" before you go. as well as as much of reef points as possible, such as "man in the arena," "qualifications of a naval officer," "rules of the road poem," and MOST DEFINITELY the three things which you are supposed to show up knowing: the mission of USNA, chain of command, and first three general orders of a sentry.

Message me if you want more information about pretty much anything.
