hey what are really competitive SAT/ACT/PSAT scores for SLS admissions? Also, what are average scores for SLS applicants?

The scores i gave were my psat. I got in.

MATH 64
VERBAL 63
WRITING 50

Ya I was wondering because WP Admissions just said they sent out the first batch of SLS acceptances today to the most competitive candidates. I already applied and I really want to know what are really competitive standardized test scores.

Keep in mind while completing this process, it's not really an indicator of anything. It's good to go for the experience, but it doesn't point toward anything relating to your actual admissions status to USMA. I didn't get into SLS with very competitive PSATs. LOA sent to me in early September. It's more about geographical representation than your scores. Don't be too anxious.

That being said, GOOD LUCK! :thumb:

Last night we had two admission reps from USNA in our home and they said that approximately 40% of summer session applicant get appointments. I don't know if that's the same for WP or not. Good luck, my son said ss was an amazing experience.

Thanks everyone. I'm just a little anxious to see if I got into the program!

Just to help, these are my SAT/ACT/PSAT scores

SAT: 700 verbal, 690 math, 740 writing
ACT: 29 English, 31 Math, 25 reading, 35 science/reasoning, 28 writing
PSAT: 63 verbal, 72 math, 67 writing.

You think my chances are okay for SLS?

Your chances are fine, I don't see why you won't get into SLS. But as hard as it may seem now I would try to look past getting into SLS and focus on enjoying high school while still achieving as much as you can. SLS is a lot of fun, but it's really not even a prerequisite to admission, just something to assist you in making a decision.

So they are starting to send acceptances out. Is the only notification by snail mail?

hey how long do you think it'll take a letter to go from West Point to San Diego?

haha just anxious:biggrin:

Don't worry guys, I know you're all anxious but if you think about it, there will be alot of waiting during the application process. The SLS acceptance letter seems like it comes earlier than some of the other things anyway.

Enjoy winter break, maybe someone will get an early Christmas gift!

My son applied for the SS's to USAFA and USMA this past session and originally USMA sent him back a disappointing no. But he bumped his ACT scores up and sent them a letter with the scores and they sent back a nice acceptance to the SLS. So if all else fails it might be beneficial to resubmit any pertinent data to the academies. He ended up going to both SS's and had the best time of his life he said!

As others have said, if you receive a rejection to SLS, it DOES NOT mean you won't get in. My son's PSAT scores were above average, with good classes, but some "C" grades in very difficult honors classes (mostly the result of not doing/turning in homework). Likely because of his grades, he was rejected for SLS, but now is a very happy cadet (likely happier because he is on winter break) :) So best of luck to all of you, and remember that a rejection now does not necessarily mean you won't get in when it really counts. And do your homework.
