Hello, all!

I'm currently a Junior, and it's driving me crazy not being able to open a file yet! I'd like to start putting my resume together, especially for SLS, so I can get everything in as early as possible, but I'm not sure what you need for the SLS portion.

SAT/ACT scores, transcript, ECs...? Are they looking for a similar 'whole candidate' look?

Also, how can I find my MALO/FFR? Everything I've read says there'll be some sort of tab on the website once I have a file, but what about now?

Thank you!

I know the exact feeling of wanting to get started, chomping at the bit, etc....

Last year we were able to open files 15 December and apply to SLS the same day. All I can really tell you is just submit all your best info to USMA and if you're qualified then that's great and if you're not then you take it as a lesson to improve.

If you know other previous USMA candidates in your area ask around to find out who the FFR is. Otherwise, my area's FFR goes around to local college fairs and academy nights so I already knew who it was beforehand. Try going to a few local college fairs and they'll usually represent USMA there.

Best o' luck! :thumb:

I remember reading somewhere the SLS application will open later (perhaps late January), but don't quote me on that.

BillSL is correct.
SLS application as well as the on-line application will open in mid-January.
The SLS dates for 2011 are:
June 2-8
June 9-15
There is a possibility of a 3rd week being added.

A good candidate for SLS would be:
- in the top 20% of their class
- has competitive PSAT/ACT/SAT scores - a good gauge of 'competitive scores' would be to compare yourself to the 2014 class (2015 stats are not out yet) http://www.usma.edu/Class/2014/profile.asp
- is a leader in ECs
- is a varsity athlete

EmeraldFalchion - I can look up your MALO/FFR for you. PM me your state and district.

Sls act

When looking at last yrs profile for admission to SLS with regards to ACT scores what if your scores don't fall in a line? My son got 34 in English and math but 26 in science and reading. I think we wish he just got 30s all the way across. Will his 26s keep him out of SLS?

when I applied, the form was very brief. Scores, class rank, extra currics then 200 word 'comment' space and that was roughly it.
And if you're lacking a little in one place, make up for it in another. I had an 1800 on my SAT when I applied for SLS and I got in.
Always helps, also, to be in active contact with you MALO to find out exactly what they're looking for.
