SLS Tips?

uh I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to wear yet but that would be cool to meet some of you guys while I'm up there too.

Hey everyone! Sweet to see a couple of fellow SLS First weekers :thumb: It's going to be a great time. Hope some of us can meet up and get to know each other!

I know I'm probably going to be walking up to random kids and asking if they are on this forum and who they are :p Only 3 days left for us session 1 people

how will we distinguish ourselves though? What do we ask to know? dont want to walk up to everyone saying "you know me from the forums?"

You chances of finding each other in a giant, crowded airport are low anyways.

Well once we get there, yeah I don't know. I guess if we are social enough we can walk up to people and ask but I will probably stick to asking people in my platoon but I guess just ask if they come on here and what their username is.

I'll have a Memphis shirt on most likely. I'll try and create a Facebook plus picture sometime in the next few days so we can put faces to names.

well, as i said, ill be wearing a polish #10 soccer jersey...red and white so you guys can spot me out...my name is Patryk

If you guys have a facebook we can private message and get names to friend each other.

Bit ofa side note.. do you think bringing three "civilian" shirts (just regular t-shirts with designs on em, like Guess Co. and Aeropostle), and two pairs of camo shorts would be worth bringing, or not so much?
I feel that showing up and leaving in them would be acceptable.. or at least wearing them in the barracks towards the evenings when there are no activities, or is that idea kinda iffy?
And also, would you feel arriving already wearing khaki shirts and a collared shirt would be a better choice than a regular shirt and camo shorts?

I don't think they provide you with shirts for everyday (do they?) so I'd advise yes bring some regular shirts.

Last year, we were issued 2 pt shirts and 2 underarmour material polo shirts. We wore the PTs for the morning workouts, the CFA, and when we would play dodgeball, etc. We wore the polo shirt to all classes and formations (pretty much) as well as all the speeches we listened to. Since the polos and PTs were quick drying we washed them out in our sink so we had clean shirts to wear. Most people just stayed in whatever clothes we had been wearing that day but if you wanted to wear some civilian clothes I don't think anyone would care. Also remember to bring a belt, you will always need to have your shirt tucked in. :thumb: Don't worry about what you wear when you show up. No one is going to haze you for it (Unless you were to wear a Navy or airforce shirt ) Also remember your squad leader will conduct your admissions interview, so do everything you are told and start thinking about possible interview questions and answers. Use SLS as an opportunity to find out about the academy and the military but at the same time enjoy yourselves. Good luck y'all and have fun.

Are we going to do much running? I'm supposed to be running at least four miles a day for a cross country summer workout.

If I remember correctly, the only run we did was the CFA. I think we may have had a brief jog here and there to get places faster but nothing I would consider training for cross country, lol
