It has been a little over a month since I've sent in my registration forms for SLS and I still have not received my confirmation letter yet. I've called and emailed USMA Admissions many times, but I have not gotten any replies from them.

Should I be worried? What should I do?

no, not really. SLS is no a prerequisite for the academy so if you dont get in to it dont sweat it. I was turned down for SLS and was offered an appointment. You may have been put on the back burner because (Speculation of course) admissions has been busy getting the paperwork for the class of 2014 ready. Funny things happen with notifications from West Point, for example I was mailed the form letter calling me a highly qualified candidate and asking me to attend a meeting with an admission officer to answer questions I may have about a military academy the day after I received my appointment. :yllol:

I have already been accepted to SLS. I just haven't received my confirmation letter yet which tells me which session I'm going to, the packing list, etc.

then keep bugging them until you talk to someone and keep sending emails. If you dont keep bugging them, they will not know you have an issue. One thing I have learned is that the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Has your portal changed? If there's a spot for entering travel information then they've gotten your forms and you shouldn't worry too much because the snow is probably slowing the mail way down. But if it hasn't changed yet, then I'd definitely contact them. Good luck!

Where is it supposed to be located in my portal? Yeah, it probably is the snow storm. Thanks!

contact them again tomorrow, they are still sending mail out, I think what happened is they are swamped with stuff right now. I would email through the portal again ASAP, you can still email in the snow.

I totally agree. They sent me letters telling me to apply for SLS like a week after I got rejected. And they keep sending me doubles or triples of the same letters.....at the same time.

I would call again and try to get a hold of them. I know that this is a different circumstance but this happened to me last year: I applied for AFSS and received a letter in the mail saying I was put on the waiting list. It said to call in to confirm to be on the list. I did and was listed as #5 or something. They said I would hear in 3 weeks. 3 weeks... 4 weeks... nothing. So I finally called them. My phone number was entered wrong so they couldn't get a hold of me and there were only 2 spots left. I got the 2nd to last spot , so calling never hurts you. Different circumstance but lesson learned for me to not wait to call. Good Luck!

I had the same worried about my follow-up letter!
It came in about 2 weeks after I sent in the registration stuff... didn't show up on my portal until a few days after that. I had emailed without reply as well, but it ended up coming in.

Just make sure you have copies of everything, I'd give it two weeks since you've sent it then start perhaps giving them a call, just to make sure. Keep in mind I live only a few hours outside of West Point and mine still took two weeks! :thumb:

Thanks everyone for your generous comments! Earlier today, my dad tracked down the $350 check for SLS and he said that the check had not been cashed yet. So who knows.

Snowstorm

Some instructors Nordic skied to the campus this week so that classes would not be canceled-there is apparently no such thing as a snow day on a military base. But the mess hall and other services were understaffed, so that is probably why paperwork is lagging.

:confused:Hey the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I mailed in my acceptance packet and heard absolutely nothing. After three weeks I got a little worried and emailed them. They told me I was confirmed for week 1 and that is was posted on my portal. I checked the portal, and filled out my SLS travel info, but still have not recieve anything in the mail.. over a month now!

Well if they confirmed you for week 1, and you filled out the Travel Info, you're set. All they send you in the mail is telling you what week you were placed into, to fill out said Travel Info, and give a copy of the rules/schedule and travel directions/maps for people who live in around the area. You can find all of this in those PDF's that are right in the same section as the Travel Info. So don't worry about no paper copy/info, as it is all on your portal.

Edit: And it also gives a card for the travelers, but mostly intended for those who come by car. It has a phone number to call if you can't make it on time for some problem that may arise during transit, so they can arrange for someone to be prepped for you and guide you, for whenever you may arrive. (Which really isn't of necessity for those who are provided transportation by WP, if you're flying into NJ)

Did not see an "SLS acceptance thread".....

Confirmed for SLS Week 1, anyone else attending that week?
