I applied for sls the day the portal opened and have yet to see in my portal that i have been accepted. I look to my PSAT scores because those are my only test scores that i have and they were not good at all. I am taking the ACT in February. Im guessing that by the time ill receive my scores back it will be to late to apply to sls correct? Most everything else on my application is decent with extra curricular's and I'm hoping that the reason i havent been accepted is because of my PSAT score.

Thank you and if anyone has any advice or any guidance I would be more than thankful to hear it. Thank you again.

im in the same situation as you. i submitted my sls app an hour after it opened and im still waiting. my psat scores were good, but the sat scores i entered were not so great. so i think for us we are going to have to wait it out

I also applied the day it came out, but my scores were good. I did extremely well on the ACT, so it's not scores for me. I wonder why they are taking a somewhat long time.

I applied within the first hour, had a 182 PSAT and a 1910 SAT (psat was bad, sat was alright), and impressive extra-curriculars. I have yet to be accepted too.

I received an email from Admissions last Thursday afternoon saying that my file was "waiting for review" (amongst other things irrelevant for this thread). ALSO, to my knowledge, everyone who has so far been accepted has had "SLS Offered" on January 12 (on their Portal). This leads me to believe that maybe the board which reviews the SLS apps convenes weekly, or at least not everyday.

West Point Admissions sent out acceptances to SLS in the mail the other day so as long as you don't receive a denial in the mail within the next couple days, I'd venture to say that we're still in business.

Good luck, hopefully we'll meet at SLS!

We're all in the same boat. I applied few hours after the application opened and even with high SAT and PSAT scores no notice yet.

If they meet weekly, that means tomorrow they meet again. Now I can't wait for tomorrow!

I was on the same boat as you guys. But today I received a letter from West Point saying I did not get in. It's quite an informative letter and is going to make me work that much harder for my goal.

Are any of you from the northeast? Because im from jersey and I heard that they tend to accept more people from a distance that can't necessarily make day trips to the academy, so maybe that could be a reason we have not heard back from them.

Fengawr: I'm sorry you did not get in, but it's all the more motivation!
jbeykz: I'm from NY, so that is actually the reason.

Im from MA. I got an offer Sunday

i live in northern new jersey so that may be a reason as well for me

at least im hoping thats the reason i havent found out yet.....

I got my acceptance letter today! Good luck to the rest of you!

Yeah I'm from Jersey and I got SLS offered January 12. So just keep waiting hopefully you will get an offer too. Hope to see you there!

Fengawr, does it now say on your profile on the USMA website that you didn't get accepted too? Thanks. I'm just concerned because my profile still shows nothing except the:

--- Initial Evaluation Pending ---

** This evaluation will not begin until June 15, 2012 at the earliest for most candidates to USMA 2017.**

Waitlisted?

Any other candidates receive a wait listed letter for SLS? DD received one last week--still hopeful!

Fengawr,

Did your USMA portal change? Do you now have a SLS tab that says that you were not accepted besides the letter? Just wondering if it will show up online if I'm not accepted or it will say nothing - just send a letter.

Just to update you all, I was offered on Jan 12th, got my letter today (the 23rd). I live in Illinois.

Son #2 letter sent 1/12; received 1/21

Dont' get discouraged. I can assure you (since we just went through this with Son #1 last year) that the entire Academy experience will be a waiting game. Keep watching that candidate portal for the most updated information (at least in our experience).

With DS#1, we found out that he had received his nominations through the portal before we heard it from the Senator and the Congressman.

DS#2 had a change on the portal. The statement that SLS was offered along with the date it was offered was posted about a week before he received the letter.

Just keep watching and working toward your ultimate goal!
