I am a candidate appointee for the USMA class of 2013. Earlier this week, while practicing sit ups, I noticed a small bump on the bottom of my tailbone. Just to be sure, we went to the doctor and he said it was a small pilonidal cyst. Since it wasn't causing discomfort and was too small to be of any real problem, he did not recommend any surgery and issued me 10 days of antibiotics as a precaution. He said the normal treatment is lancing of the boil or a cystectomy surgery, but this was too small and the operation would definitely not be worth it.
Now what should I do, with R-Day only 2 weeks away? Is this going to be a problem with my medical status? Am I supposed to email the admissions team and the DoDMERB?
