Particularly Navy ROTC scholarship. I am attending The Citadel this fall and majoring in Chemical Engineering. In high school I had a 3.6 GPA, 25 ACT, a few sports, nothing spectacular, no clubs, a few extracurricular activities. Originally I had planned to apply for an ROTC scholarship after my first year in college, because needless to say I did not think my high school stats were competitive enough to get it. I heard the ROTC scholarship applications just opened up again and I remembered one of my family friends could write me a recommendation letter. He is a retired Colonel in the Army, and he was also head of ROTC program at Embry-Riddle (Aeronautical University) and the local community college. Would a letter from this gentleman have any big impact on my chances? Sorry for the long post but any information would be helpful.
