Son just accepted offer of appointment

Congratulations on the appointment. What state and district are you from? We have a firstie and a senior in high school that has a senatorial nom, but hasn't heard on appointment yet, but as many have said, it is still very early, esp for non-recruited athletes. We are from Birmingham, AL. We also lead the parents club here, if you have any questions. Thanks.
What is the name of your parent group? We are about an hour North of Birmingham and would love some information on it.

Congratulations to your DS!!
Others shoukd remember its early for acceptance. My DS did not even get a nomination notification until january. bFE early march.
Yes, my DD’s Plan C schools have started coming in. She is not excited. She won’t know about a Nom until end-Dec. We live in a highly competitive district. We still have a long way to go. Keeping the faith!

I have a cousin in Alabama that has applied. Which Senator has already given nominations? I think he is still waiting to hear.

@MoSwimmer66 - Thanks for the chuckle. So glad my DS isn't the only one "not excited" about Plan B/C school offers and scholarships coming in! Keeping the faith!
Thanks - DD got 2 Noms this week to USNA. We all are very excited. Now the wait for hopefully an appointment! Sooner rather than later - but she’ll take it anytime! Good luck to everyone out there.

West Point Parents Club of Alabama. I was President many moons ago. :)

Jones has submitted his nominations.
Historically, Shelby doesn't submit until late January.

buff81...just saw this, so sorry for not responding. I appreciate you serving the families of AL...it has been very rewarding, but we certainly have just tried to continue to grow on the great foundation many great folks before us laid.

We just heard from Doug Jones this morning that our DS received an appointment to the Class of 2023. He is also in the application process for AFA, so he is waiting a bit on that.

I agree with your post about Shelby. Our DS called his office last week and he hasn't submitted his slate yet. I'm not sure about all of the Congressional Reps, but Rep. Palmer's slate was submitted in December just after interviews.

To all who post, many thanks. As a father, I read and read, and read more, back many pages. The USMA section of the academy forums was above and beyond informative. In many ways it helped him prepare and answered absolutely every question he and I had.

Son just accepted the offer of appointment that went live this morning online through his candidate portal. What a fantastic day! Class of 2023!
Congratulations, to you and your son. Welcome to the family. It has been everything my DS said he dreamed it would be. It is the same for us.

Sorry, just saw this...Shelby still hasn’t announced appointments, but we received two calls yesterday that our DS got an appointment to WP. One call was from our senator, one call was from our representative. This seemed unusual, since it is my understanding that cadet candidates come from just one slate.

I heard about your son's appointment - Congratulations! I hope he makes the right decision ;)

My son got nominations from Doug Jones and Gary Palmer also. I guess I can assume, based on the 3Q letter, he didn’t get a nomination and is now on the wait list. Congrats to your son. Looks like plan B will be our option.

I’m guessing you meant to say ‘assume he didn’t get an appointment...’. I wouldn’t necessarily say that. The admissions committee meets weekly and more appts will be going out often. I would hang in there and be patient. Many appointments going out now but lots more to come. Our DS that is currently a Firstie didn’t hear about not getting an appointment until early April. Each case is different.

My son also received calls from both MOCs from which he received nominations. He additionally has a presidential nom. At first we thought it was unusual, then we surmised that maybe USMA still hasn't finalized which nom they are using and are remaining flexible.

Congrats-another good Southerner! My DD from TN is a non recruited athlete and she heard in December...her LOA was in September...so there are no "standards" everyone keep being patient!
