Son said there is some big announcement coming Thursday.

I don’t watch Fox so it would be helpful to me if those who do watch that network or similar, could explain what people are so upset about that is being taught at our SAs?

I hear and read lots of complaints, from mostly non cadets or non mids, but nothing in terms of actual specifics that people think is so wrong.

Don’t ask me.

I am strictly disagreeing that the public doesn’t have a right to know or dictate what is being taught.

These service academies are defending the public’s constitution on the public’s dime.

The public should know if they are being indoctrinated for instance. (Not saying they are).
Don't disagree about the point regarding public funding for the institution. But indoctrination is a pretty relative term. Given the state of politics in the country, half of the people would probably argue that they are being indoctrinated, and the other half would disagree. Regardless, no point in arguing the merits in this thread. Thanks.

We can’t discuss the merits of this thread until we see what is presented to the midshipmen/staff.

My small understanding is the statistics can be questioned, as many opted out of the survey.

Certainly we can all agree that sexual harassment, sexual assault, etc has no place at an academy, at colleges, or anywhere in out society.

I will be shocked if this topic doesn't pop up as a separate thread with people pissed at what they think this means. The degradation of the Academies and society, and all such impacts on humanity. I would recommend that the cadets, mids, and any others who receive the brief keep the discussion to yourselves, as you are probably much more mature enough to handle the discussion than the culture warriors out here on the outside.

If anybody wants to rail on about the Navy's view on gender/race/trans issues - you can get plenty of that at the Commander Salamander blog. He goes on about this incessantly and even dedicates an entire day of the week to this topic that he calls "Diversity Thursday." There are a lot culture warriors who participate in the discussions - almost all of whom are like-minded - which calls into question whether it's really a discussion.

For me, personally, I do not waste a second of any day being concerned about who is not woke enough or who is too woke.

Bancroft Hall/USNA Brigade Rumor Mill - running strong for almost 200 years.
Older than the Pensacola A-Pool rumor mill haha! They would tell us an all-hands brief is happening the next day, and the next thing you know, wild theories among the ensigns on what the topic is.

Enjoy the bread and circuses!

DS told me what the pending meeting was going to be about. But there is always rampant speculation. Until they are in the room and the leadership is at the mic, it’s kind of wasted energy to ponder.

SAGR is the Service Academy Gender Relations survey. IT happens every two years and is a congressional mandate.

If the speculators on this thread google previous years’ results I think they will realize that it is far from a trivial matter. It is a study on sexual assault and sexual harassment at the service academies.

I just received an email that included the Superintendent’s letter and the sapr report.

Links don’t work - so I can’t read them.

I can’t either. Maybe so many people are accessing it, that it crashed the Internet.

At first glance, this is alarming. However, I wonder what the stats would look like if the same survey was given at civilian colleges.
I would also want to see how the questions were asked.

We also don’t know the veracity of the answers. I had cops investigate tenants of mine years ago and it was dropped. Video evidence proved she was lying.

There should be a zero tolerance policy - kick all guilty ones out and arrest them. But there also needs to be due process for the accused. I would prefer civilian courts.

If only civilian colleges would be curious enough to find this out, and make the findings public.

Out of curiosity, is there staff or civilian employees in Mother B? Would a plebe be reporting to a classmate or staff?

Here’s the program guidance. DoD guidance is followed by each DoD servce in creating a service policy, and each command’s policy and program will follow the Service guidance. Hence all the references.
