I'm entering my Sophomore year of high school and I was wondering the best way to currently help myself for possible admission into the USNA.

I have a 3.85 GPA in Advanced Classes (And I can do better)
I'm going to be on Varsity Track and Cross Country this year
I'm taking the most honors and AP classes a Sophomore can take this year.
I volunteer frequently at church and with children's programs at the local rec-center.
I'm a member in the top band at our school

I am also looking into joining the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps, does anyone know how the Naval Academy views this?

And is there anything else I can do this year besides the usual "take advanced classes and do lots of extracurriculars"

Thanks!

Sounds like you're doing great. I would add that you should take the PSAT - Soph year if time and budget allow. Becoming a National Merit Scholar/Finalist (Jr. year) probably gets noticed. Try to join the National Honor Society if your school has a chapter. (I think its during your Jr. year.) You say that you're taking the most honors/AP classes allowed, which is great, but if those are in math and science so much the better. Are you taking a langage? If not, better start.

Regarding athletics - running track/CC is fantastic but runners are notoriously weak in upperbody and core, so work on those pullups, pushups and crunches.

Find some leadership opportunities. Real ones not just a title.

Have a Plan B.

Finally, have some fun. You're only in HS once.

Better start on that.. My upper body strength is... zero.. hahah

Im a freshman going into highschool my math grades a little low and i want to go to vmi or yhe naval academy i play football and im in boyscouts do anyone of u have ideas of what i should do this year and through
my whole highschool career to where i may get accepted

I would join a 3rd sport during the Winter Season that works your muscles and upper body strength like Wrestling.

Going into Jr year

I am just now about to go into my Jr year of high school my cumulative gpa is only about 2.8 however i am in AP calculus and highest possible science classes etc.(totally slacked off the past years then realized this is what i want) in varsity swim and archery (hoping to take a few more sports this year). I was just wondering if anyone had any other tips or any for my specific case. Also does anyone know how the board of admissions would look upon someone with my grades and such? However dont get me wrong i will have top grades this upcoming year. Oh, and i dont have really any volunteer so just wondering how i can really bring this around and get in.
