Is the link or the website they gave us for the spanish placement test not working for anyone else? I have tried several different days, and it will not allow me to take it. It says the server is not responding. Anyone else having this problem??

The Stanford link doesn't work for me. Maybe its just my browser, but if I type admissions.usafa.edu, it doesn't work.

However, if I use the link that was posted on page one of this thread, it works fine.

Strange.

And yes, the test was actually quite challenging, at least from a vocabulary perspective.

Do try on the test, especially if you have any interest in continuing on. It got me placed out of three semesters. That makes a getting a minor not very challenging.

which thread is it? can you just message me the link.

Yeah, I'm getting the same problem. But the problem isn't with the page where you select which language, it's when you click on which language it tries to take you to a site but it doesn't work. Anyone call the foreign language department yet?

I called today. They said that they had a problem and that they were trying to get into contact with stanford to get it fixed. The tech guy said to try again in a week or so. He said that they have only so many contacts into stanford so it takes a little bit of time to fix things like this

nahhh, they place you depending on you aptitude for spanish or german. if you do well on one or the other you get your pick of "strategic languages" and others

Actually you will take another test during BCT to find your aptitude for languages. You will be placed in a language based more on how you do on that test.

As for having your pick of "strategic languages". I wouldn't count on that much. I know plenty of cadets that requested languages only to be placed in another language. So, while they may ask you what you want. Don't count on getting it.
