Is it possible to go through SF selection/training while being a third year cadet at West Point? apparently my buddy over a USMA has already been selected and I am literally astonished!

You can try out @ West Point for one of the very few spots to go to Army Special Forces Assesment and Selection. Getting a spot from USMA to go to SFAS is hard enough, getting selected at SFAS... Another story. By selected, he may mean he was picked to go to SFAS, or he was actually selected to enter the Special Forces pipeline within 60 months...

SF.....

In other words, less than 5 will be selected out of a class of 1100. They are truly special.

last year, USMA sent 8 guys to SFAS. 6/8 were "selected," but that still is not a guarantee that they will receive credit for SFAS when they care officers (based on timing) or ever get to SF during their career
